Biography:
After Bobby Lee's parents emigrated to the U.S. from Korea, his father worked three jobs to support his family. Eventually, Bobby's father settled on a clothing store in San Diego, CA; at one point, he even owned an entire chain of clothing stores. The family expected Bobby to run the family business someday; however, growing up was not easy for their son. In Bobby's words, he was "a mess as a kid." His parents were tough on him because he was a D student in high school who struggled with attention deficit disorder. At one point in his young life, Bobby even attended drug rehab; and he constantly struggled with self-image problems related to his small size. Certainly a successful showbiz career seemed like a remote possibility for the teenage Bobby.

Since he had no ambition to attend college after he graduated from high school, Bobby took any degrading blue-collar job that he could find; he even lived out of a truck for four months. One fateful night, however, he got an itch to become a standup comic while watching comedians perform at La Jolla's Comedy Store, located in his native San Diego. It took him a couple of months to work up the courage to take the stage; after all, he had no comedy experience. After a year of perfecting his craft, Bobby was spotted onstage by Pauly Shore, who asked the young Lee to open for him in Las Vegas. That night, Bobby also met Pauly's mother, Mitzi Shore, the celebrated owner of her own eponymous comedy store in San Diego. Through what Bobby calls "trial and error," he ultimately grew more and more comfortable with his craft. When the crowd didn't respond, he would just smile. "It's all about repetition and learning to stay comfortable so you can be yourself," Lee once said. "The more you fail, the better you'll become."

At age 23, Bobby suffered from major depression because he felt that he had nothing going for him. Once he recovered, he decided to audition for "MADtv." Ten interviews later, the show's producers asked him to become a cast member. Although Bobby began as a featured player during Season 7 of "MADtv," he was elevated to full-time cast member status by Season 8. Now entering his seventh season on "MADtv," Bobby is earnestly looking to extend his fame beyond the late-night sketch comedy series. Even though his roles in films such as Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and Kickin' It Old School have been rather small, Bobby is encouraged by not only his own steadily growing success but also the rising fortunes of all Asians in Hollywood. "If you look at all the major networks now -- fifteen years ago, you couldn't find an Asian with a recurring spot and now you look at a show like Lost, you've got two, and then you've got Sandra on Grey's Anatomy," he observes. "You have me -- I'm on a sketch show for six years," he continues. "That's a miracle."

Since making that statement, Bobby has added two more seasons to his "MADtv" resume. During Season 14, he will be juggling his sketch comedy duties with those of his new Comedy Central series, which was picked up for the network's fall season and will give Bobby yet another creative outlet for his special brands of physical comedy and ethnic humor. As the "MADtv" veteran's popularity increases, the rest of the world will soon realize what the show's fans have known all along: love him or hate him, Bobby Lee is here to stay.

Where are they now?
As of June 2008, Bobby has been confirmed for Season 14 of "MADtv." It will mark Bobby's eighth season overall on the series, his seventh as a repertory cast member. Bobby is also currently working on an as-yet-untitled pilot, which will air on Comedy Central in the near future.

Hey, ef, shouldn't Celebrity Survivor be listed here too since Bobby was in it as Connie Chung?

Uhm, it seems to me ef (or Mad's official site, whichever) DOES have the sketch because it's listed under Frank Caliendo's sketches, and since Frank and Bobby both have 7 Buddy Cops II (thanks for that, by the way) listed, logically Bobby should have Celebrity Survivor listed (primarily because he had a bigger role on it than Frank did to begin with). Oi, this isn't even legit bickering or nitpicking this time, just a regular correction.

You're right, this isnt bickering or nitpicking. It's just trying to explain something to someone who isn't catching on. The sketches that ef is posting are available for download on madtv.com and is all he's doing is giving the direct link. Celebrity Survivor isn't available for download on madtv.com. I hope that clears everything up.

Then why did Ef_7 put Celebrity Survivor in the list of sketches available for download in Frank Caliendo's thread?

What am I not getting?

I think Gogo (and myself) are just wondering why Celeb. Survivor is listed in Frank's available sketches, but not bobby's. Considering it was the teaser sketch on the front page of MADtv.com and they are available for download (are they not?) it should be listed in Bobby's available sketches.

Ok, I'm sorry. I see what you guys are talking about now. I dunno why he didn't put that sketch in here either.

I'll say this though, most of these sketches he's listing are - like you said - teaser sketches. They're not the full sketch. If you go and quote his sketches post and it doesnt say classics1/ at the end of the url, then it's just a teaser sketch. I myself, if I was posting these sketches would either label them as such or remove them all together......ef?

Oops... thanx for pointing that out GoGo... I'll add that once I get the chance. The available sketches are a working progress and one day I hope to add ALL sketches that are on the internet at any site, not just madtv... of course this will take alot of work and I need your help, just like you just did... thank you again

ANOTHER Movie for a MADtv castmember. This is great (This one actually sounds like one I might see, John Cho is funny and Fred Willard, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Jamie Kennedy are also in this movie) This sounds like a great movie, although I don't think Bobby part is more than the role of an extra.

Bobby will appear in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" as Kenneth Park.

Genre: Comedy

Tagline: Fast Food. High Times.

Plot Summary: Two twenty-something stoner roommates -- one a Korean American investment banker; the other an Indian American medical school candidate -- go through a life changing journey, as they spend a night roaming the state of New Jersey in search of White Castle hamburgers.

Here's the movies website:

Default Bobby Lee Spotted On Headline News

Flipping through the channels last night I spotted MADtv's own Bobby Lee being interviewed on CNN's Healine News at the Maui Film Festival. He was asked what was he doing here, how things going on MADtv and at times he was flaunting with the interviewer doing the few minutes he was on the air since this was an entertainment report.

Though maybe some Bobby Lee fans were interested in this.

Pauly Shore needs some new jokes

By Jay Webb

Special to the Star-Telegram

FORT WORTH - Who would have thought Pauly Shore would dare to make a comeback? But there he was, trying, at Hyena's Comedy Night Club on Friday night.

The star of the early '90s MTV staple Totally Pauly and films from the same era such as Encino Man and Bio-Dome performed for an early show crowd of about 200.

His new film, Pauly Shore is Dead, which is scheduled for release Sept. 24, threatens to be a semiautobiographical dark comedy. Unfortunately, Shore didn't draw on his latest movie-making experience or his earlier adventures with quasi fame for the Hyena show, which would have helped set his act apart from others.

Dressed in a custom-made turquoise polo shirt and saggy blue jeans with his white underwear showing, Shore warmed up the audience with jokes about troubled celebrities and sports stars, making little mention of where he's been for the last eight years.

At 36 years old, he didn't look too much worse for wear. He was in decent shape and still had most of his hair, although it was cropped short. He confessed to having cut down on his drinking, which led to a drug riff that was vaguely cautionary.

For the most part, he stayed far away from his trademark weasel persona but inevitably he had to make his squeaky, kissy weasel noises to accommodate his fans -- or, at least, those entertainment junkies who revel in watching fading celebrities like gawkers at traffic accidents. One such reveler even stood up to get the old finger-wave treatment.

Surprisingly, Shore dared to throw a little politics into his act, but he seemed to tone it down when he acknowledged being in Texas. He kept his President Bush/Iraqi war joke to "He grew up playing cowboys and Indians, now he plays cowboys and Arabs."

Little of his routine in the early show was decent enough for print; it mostly dealt with sex, oral sex or sex with minors. He riffed on an old girlfriend's telephone habits and on how girls travel in packs when they go out, but mostly he came across as deficient in the relationship department.

"I've never lived with a girl before," he joked. "I need to try that cause I need some new material." Yes, he definitely could use some new material.

Opening act Bobby Lee of Mad TV fame was much more physical in his humor. But most of his jokes dealt with his family heritage -- in this case, Korean -- which can be a crutch for a comedian. But compared with Pauly Shore, at least his humor came from a more genuine background that fueled more hearty laughs from the crowd.

What's this about "Bobby Lee made an appearance on "Mad TV" in 1995?" ??? Was Bobby Lee on "I Love the'90s,"?

Well I love the 90's doesn't start until Next monday BUT if that article is any indication to go by, It's pretty much assured that MADtv will be mentioned in 1995.

Are you sure they're not implying that he will be a commentator. Look at the context w/ the sentence right after the one mentioning Bobby.
