What were your thoughts? I liked it. It would have been better if they just kept the original, but it was definitely fresher than last seasons.

I think anything would have been better than last seasons!! It was not quite the orignal, but I could hear Heavy D in the background!! It was good enough for me.

The theme music was okay, 100 times better than season 13's, at least there were some lyrics to it. But it was too short and I barely remember it

It is better than season 13 but kind of annoyed they kept the same shitty opening credits

When I first heard it I hated it, but I think I will grow to like it as we go on. At least it has the You are now watching MADtv, MAD! Thing in it right. Definatly not the best theme song, but I think it will eventually be better than last years MADtv-less theme.

It, and the opening credits, are a hot, flaming pile on donkey turd. I don't understand why they'd want to keep any sort of ties to last season. It's more likely to make people tune out when they see them, rather than tune in. Worst credits ever!

Also, I noticed they got different people to do the new theme, but they still sampled the original? I'd imagine it be cheaper to just sample the old theme song rather than actually use it, but I'm still confused as to why get a new theme at all. __________________ |

Getting a new theme song is a producer's decision, who may or may not be "in tune" with the original spirit of the show, and may or may not be influenced by the powers-that-be.
I am also glad that they brought back parts of the Heavy D theme. I have a feeling that we will never see the original again, but at least this is SOMETHING. The graphics dont bother me as much, honestly; the season 12 graphics were very different too. |

That's actually an interesting point. Dick Blasucci (sp?) was the showrunner up until Season 13, when they first got the new theme song.

Season 13's were better. At least the electric guitar and drums fit with the grunge theme of the credits. This new theme doesn't at all. Just put the old one back!!

Going back to the point about the theme song being a producer's decision. This is actually very interesting. These days, a lot of people are more into that progressive/techno/electric/generic music. Personally it would have been better to use the theme from Season 12 only with the audience cheering added. I liked the new theme better than last year's. I think at this point any theme song is better than Season 13's.

The new theme is 100 times better then last year! I just would enjoy if they would take one more step forward (or back maybe? lol) and use the one they used during season 1 - 11. I didn't like season 12 and 13's theme song.

Why are you guys talking about Season 12's theme song like it was so drastically different from the previous years'?

Well personally I would say Season 12's theme would fit better because it was one of the shorter versions of the theme song. Seasons 9-11 were a minute long each and this seasons credits are like 30 seconds long. Seasons 1/2 had the original full version; that wouldn't work. 3 was the worst theme because it was cut off after they show Debra Wilson's image. 4 depending on the episode had either the theme used in Seasons 5-8, or 1/2. I'm going based on the facts given the length of each theme and Season 12 would fit best.

Thats when they first changed it. Some random dudes voice was saying the "mad" "so crazy"....it sounded really bad and like an amature made it. It wasn't the real theme. I enjoyed how they showed the cast though in the season 12 credits.

I don't really mind that much of the new theme song, times change and I think the show needs to change to keep up with the times. So I'm quite okay with it.
But the issue is the credits. That plus the stage made me feel like it was Season 13 all over again. ![]() __________________ Gimme Crista or gimme nothing! |

I think what MADtv did is that they changed the song, but used the words so that they wouldn't have to pay Heavy D such high residuals. I mean look at every other version of the song they have used from 1-12. The tune was still very much in there. You know the do do dodo dodo part. Here the tune is gone, but the words are still there, and if "you are now watching MADtv" "MAD" is in there then I am satisfied.
