Nicole's new (untitled) CBS comedy will be filming the pilot episode on Tuesday, April 15 at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

Nicole Sullivan stars in this new comedy for CBS as a woman who marries a man with three brothers, who quickly become a part of her extended family. Co-starring Eddie Mc Clintock, Thomas Ian Nicholas, John Ducey and Kate Walsh (HBO's The Mind of the Married Man).

Yes I think it's a King Of Queens spinoff.
The past track record of Nicole Sullivan sitcoms isn't encouraging
though:

Talk To Me (2000): cancelled after three episodes (hey, at least it lasted longer than "Clerks")

Me And My Needs (2001): NS pilot never aired and never picked up by ABC

Dexter Prep (2002): Never aired, never picked up by ABC

Hey! We gotta stay positive! I can't wait. What network was Talk to Me supposed to be on? She will star in this one, won't she? In the others she was just supporting cast, right?

Ah yes.. is that why she announced that she was leaving mid-season in season five, but ended up returning for another season, was because the show got cancelled? Or was it strictly a contract conflict?

No; that's the name of my new band. It's going to be like the Joe Perry Project, only different. I was considering calling it "Mr. Furley," but I think "The Nicole Sullivan Project" is better.

It was on ABC. She was essentially a supporting cast member, but it was a pretty substantial role, since she played the sister of the main character. I posted a clip from the show here:

so 3 shows on ABC that didnt make it. Lets hope CBS will give her a better shot. After all, she's already established herself on CBS' King of Queens... And thanks, I saw the clip on your site a while ago... BTW, is there a reason why you use quicktime for all your clips? Windows Media is far more popular these days, unless perhaps you're a mac user.

I'm probably just behind the times. When I started putting clips on the website around late 1998/early 1999, the software I was using (that came with the video capture card) saved the video files in AVI format, which did not provide adequate compression. I started using QuickTime (probably because someone at work was a big Mac fan and recommended it). I think that year QuickTime 4.0 came out and it seemed to be more than adequate for my purposes. I was thinking about getting Adobe Premiere (which would probably be overkill for what I'm doing, anyway), but instead I paid the $40 to register QuickTime.

I probably should make a survey of the software that's available, though, including the latest QuickTime. I tried out my video clips; they play with the QuickTime Media Player (which many people might not have) and RealOne (I'm guessing most people have this, at least if they're using Windows), but not with Windows Media Player (at least not with version 6.4).

Give Windows Media Encoder a try. Its free. And for your information, QuitckTime .MOV files don't play by default in any windows media player. A lot of people are and have ditched Real Player over the years, because it has gotten bloated, with even more and more BS crammed into it. Both QuickTime & RealPlayer require registration, and their "free" versions are filled with nags & stuff that installs in your system tray. Windows Media Player comes with every version of windows since Win98, and if you choose the right codec, the clips will be playable in all of them. The beauty of WMP though, is that if it doesnt have a codec, it will download it on the fly, unlike RealPlayer & QuickTime, which require many more steps. This is just my opinion, formed over many years of dealing with video capturing & encoding...

The one thing that occurred to me is that QuickTime is probably one of the few cross-platform solutions. I think they have the Windows Media Player for the Mac, but I don't think they have it for Linux. To be sure, it's a small percentage of web surfers, but you're talking to someone who used to view all his web pages in Lynx to see how they looked in text-only format.

Good point. I did see Windows Media player for OS 9, OS X, Solaris on the microsoft website. But someone had to have written it for linux and the likes...

LOL! Lynx! I remember Lynx, back in 1992 when I had a dial-up account to a shell provider that had a connection to the internet thru Lynx! Back then, it worked relatively well because there were very few graphics on websites... I got a PPP connection provider in 1993, and graphical Netscape 1.0, on a 14.4 modem...Heh, those were the days... *sigh*

Netscape 1.0, with the pulsating "N." I also used a program called Slipknot, which was a web browser with a graphical interface which worked with shell accounts. Then around 1994 I decided to make the switch to Netscape. I was still going to school so I went to the computer help desk, and they basically said that if you wanted to use the school's PPP connection, you had to figure it out yourself. This was before schools fell in love with computers. My brother graduated RPI in 1997 magna cum laude without ever owning a state-of-the-art computer (he had an XT freshman year and a MacPlus sophomore year). Now they make all incoming freshman purchase a laptop computer.

I just tried out the Windows Media Encoder. It did a good job of compressing the file - a 1.2 MB QuickTime movie file became about 300 KB with the encoder. But it came at a cost. The sound was OK, but the picture became more pixel-ish. I changed the configuration, and got a somewhat better picture. Manipulating audio/video settings seemed a bit more unwieldy than it is for QuickTime, but then again, I've been using QuickTime for several years. The fact that the WME software is free gives it an obvious advantage.

By the way, I'm using a D-Link TV Tuner hooked up to a VCR. Some of the clips were created using the ATI All In Wonder Pro (the old one that doesn't work with Windows 2000/XP).

Yeah you gotta tinker with WME to get the optimum settings...

And as for the older All In Wonder Pro.. There certainly are drivers for Win2000/XP for it. here are the links. The Driver & Capture software are a separate download.

Last I checked, they had drivers for the video card (the All In Wonder is a combo video card/TV tuner), but the software for the TV tuner for Windows 2000 resulted in me getting the Blue Screen of Death virtually every time I tried to run it. This was the situation in late 2000, when the software was first posted. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and get a new TV tuner (this was in 2001).

Speaking of pricey, didn't Play, Inc., the company that made Snappy, market a high-end video editing system some years ago?

I see, the one and only BSOD... Are you still in Win2000 or did you migrate over to XP? The box that I have my ATI Radeon VIVO in, I have WinXP, and it autodetected the card, I didnt even have to install any drivers at all, capture was ready to go from the start... XP is great.

I don't recall Snappy... I did have a hardware MPEG capture card in the 486 days, but they didnt make any drivers for newer OS, so I ditched it.
