Post Episode S13E15 (Aired 2008-04-26)

Albanian Idol
Albanian Television Channel 820 airs its iteration of American Idol, hosted by Artan Janujaz (Dan Oster). The judges consist of Gog Tardashian (Keegan-Michael Key), Rodniana Zush (Crista Flanagan), and Sajeek Buttkim (Michael McDonald). On this episode, the competition has been narrowed down to the top 2 finalists, Kamee (Nicole Parker) and Smartee (Jordan Peele). Kamee performs her version of Celine Dion's smash hit from the film Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On." Smartee does more of a pop approach, by performing his own version of Michael Jackson's hit from the album Thriller, "Beat It." In the end, Kamee is crowned as the new Albanian Idol, and Smartee is attacked by a bear for some reason.

Credits: Dan Oster (Artan Janujaz), Keegan-Michael Key (Gog Tardashian), Crista Flanagan (Rodniana Zush), Michael McDonald (Sajeek Buttkim), Nicole Parker (Kamee), Jordan Peele (Smartee)

Opening: The New & Improved Bobby Lee
Sir Dominic Monaghan comes out on stage to talk about acting being both a gift and curse. He discusses how he sees great potential in a young actor -- that is, when he retires from the business. Dominic introduces the new and improved Bobby Lee, who still cannot help but constantly lower his trousers each time he attempts to perform Hamlet's "Speech to the Players." Bobby begins to act as the Asian stereotype he is portrayed to be, and even uses his Bae Sung catchphrase, "Uh oh, hot dog!" Bobby admits that all he knows is getting naked and being Asian. Dominic attempts the speech, when Bobby pulls his pants down.

Credits: Dominic Monaghan (himself), Bobby Lee (himself)

Domi-Lost
Dominic Monaghan (himself) is having trouble finding the destination on the map in front of him. Bobby Lee (himself) is spotted peeing in the bushes, wearing nothing more than a diaper. Dominic complains that the map he was given isn't helpful, because it's a map of Disneyland. He points out that Bobby looks ridiculous in his diaper, when Bobby reveals that he dresses that way sometimes. The two begin to drive off, when they spot Crista Flanagan (herself) in front of them, causing the vehicle to go off the side of the road. Bobby starts panicking because he can't find Dominic anywhere. He runs into Crista, who informs him that Dominic isn't who he says he is, but is then promptly shot by Dominic with a spear gun. Dominic tells Bobby that Crista is lying and leaves to get help. Bobby turns around, only to find Crista still alive. She informs him that he needs to get out of there quickly because Dominic is up to something, but Dominic shoots her again before she can finish. Dominic has a flashback to when he was first given a spear gun as a child, and he tells Bobby that they are being watched. At this point, Dominic is shot by a spear himself while trying to explain the chain of events, when Bobby runs into Nicole Parker (herself). Nicole and Bobby begin to run away from a mysterious black cloud. She gives him a ring, which Bobby mistakes for a magic ring. At this point, Nicole is swept up by the black cloud. Bobby wakes up in the year 2010, noticing that he survived the car crash, and that he is married to Crista. He proceeds to the shower, only to discover that he is actually married to Dominic.

Credits: Dominic Monaghan (himself), Bobby Lee (himself), Crista Flanagan (herself/Mrs. Monaghan), Nicole Parker (herself)

Video Response: Star Wars Stories
Jordan Peele (himself) posts a video response to YouTube user "Cherub368" about a video known as "Star Wars Stories." Jordan is infuriated by the magnitude of error in the original video, condemning the commentary made in the video. He gets mad because the little boy mentions that Darth Vader is a good guy who uses a life-saver, and that the characters live on the planet "Octapee." The little boy continues by commenting on Yoda and Darth Maul, which leads Jordan to get even more upset, claiming that the user is pathetic for posting videos like this. Jordan is interrupted by his mother, who tells him that his macaroni and cheese is ready.

Credits: Jordan Peele (himself)

Johnny Gan: Tching Ling!
Johnny Gan (Bobby Lee) welcomes the audience to the latest installment of his show, with co-host Pongo. The topic for the day is Hollywood Superheroes, such as Iron Man with Robert Downy Jr. (who is actually shown to be Keegan-Michael Key as the tin man from Season 9's Wizard of Oz Alternate Ending sketch). Johnny states that American superheroes are no good, and that Thailand has a much better superhero known as Tching Ling. What makes Tching Ling unique is that he has the head of a hawk and five penises. Johnny reveals a new trailer of the Tching Ling movie made for Thailand, with he himself playing the leading role of Tching Ling. The women that Tching Ling saves turn out to be famous celebrities such as Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, and Rhea Pearlman, who turn out to be mere blowup dolls. Johnny ends his show by pointing out that the movie features a segment consisting of nothing but singing.

Credits: Bobby Lee (Johnny Gan/Tching Ling)

Commercial: G-Mobile's Phone 5 #1
Charles Barkley (Keegan-Michael Key) arrives at Dwayne Wade's (Jordan Peele) house saying that Dwayne is now in his Phone 5 -- a new plan from G-Mobile. Unfortunately, Charles can't seem to stop calling Dwayne. During one phone call, Charles tells Dwayne that his date slipped into the jacuzzi and is now dead. Dwayne tells Charles to call the police, but Charles refuses because the police aren't in his Phone 5.

Credits: Jordan Peele (Dwayne Wade), Keegan-Michael Key (Charles Barkley)

Commercial: G-Mobile's Phone 5 #2
Charles calls Dwayne again saying he needs to get rid of the body. Charles asks Dwayne if garden sheers are strong enough to cut through bone. Charles calls Dwayne again asking him about getting rid of DNA evidence, and sets the girl's clothes on fire. He begins to bury the decapitated body in his backyard. Charles then asks Dwayne if it is painful to burn off his fingerprints with acid.

Credits: Jordan Peele (Dwayne Wade), Keegan-Michael Key (Charles Barkley)

Nacho Hernandez: Viva la Vote!
FOX News Channel begins their segment with the turbulent economy being linked to gay marriage, and John McCain's endorsement from Jesus. The program cuts to reporter Page Hopkins (Arden Myrin) who is live in East Los Angeles with a group of young, scary-looking urban youths. She decides to talk to one of the individuals named Nacho Hernandez (Johnny Sanchez), who is also known as "Li'l Joker." Page asks him why Latinos are highly interested in this year's election. Nacho responds by telling her that this time, Latinos are in the driver's seat because the candidates really need their vote, which isn't a problem because Latinos like to carpool. He tells Page that he is not voting for McCain because when he was Vietnam, he was caught by the "Chinos," which, according to him, is stupid because the "Chinos" are smaller than Mexicans. When Page asks Nacho about Barack Obama, he tells her that he's unsure because Barack might end up popping his collar every time he gives a speech; not only that, but he might also bring the entire Obama family to the White House lawn and have a barbecue. Nacho also believes that Air Force One would end up with spinner rims. Nacho decides he wants to vote for Hillary Clinton instead, because he and his buddies like "Slick Willy," who is none other than Bill Clinton. His reason is that Bill will throw parties with big, fat white chicks while Hillary is gone, and the Latinos are going to be crashing those parties. The news coverage ends with Nacho telling Page he wants to get nasty with her.

Credits: Dan Oster (Voice-over), Johnny Sanchez (Nacho Hernandez), Arden Myrin (Page Hopkins)

Commercial: G-Mobile's Phone 5 #3
Charles asks Dwayne if anyone would think about looking for him in either Brazil or Portugal. He tells Dwayne to lend him money to get a new passport and facial reconstruction. A man knocks on Charles' door and is killed by Charles. The commercial ends with Charles killing the announcer for seeing too much.

Credits: Jordan Peele (Dwayne Wade), Keegan-Michael Key (Charles Barkley)

New Fantasy Film
Gordon Monaghan (Michael McDonald) lets his son Tommy "explore" out in the rosebushes, and his son ends up crossing paths with a magical fairy (Arden Myrin) who guides him to the land of Imagitopia. In the real world, however, a family's nightmare begins, as the Monaghans start to get frantic over their son's disappearance. Mrs. Monaghan (Crista Flanagan) asks her husband if he was on the phone with his whore when he let Tommy play out in the rosebushes. Tommy makes new friends in the form of a goat (Dominic Monaghan) and a pig (Dan Oster). Mrs. Monaghan, in the meantime, kicks her husband out, accusing him of killing their son. A news reporter (Daheli Hall) asks him why he murdered his son. The natives of Imagitopia crown Tommy as king, while in reality, Gordon is featured on CNN with Nancy Grace (Nicole Parker) who labels him "The Rosebush Killer" and asks him what type of bag his son was stuffed in -- paper or plastic. Gordon responds by telling Nancy he didn't kill his son, to which Nancy declares a guilty verdict. The natives of Imagitopia announce that from that point on, the current day will be known as "Tommy Day", when a tree (Keegan-Michael Key) tells him that a boy belongs with his parents. Tommy heads home, where it is shown that his father has committed suicide by hanging himself. The film ends with a PSA from Arden and Dominic out of character, telling the audience that fantasy films are nightmares for parents, and a large burden on emergency services. Arden suggests that families do what her parents did, which is to chain her to a pole. Dominic proposes that parents could also use the official "Dominic Monaghan Interdimensional Child Lanyard."

Credits: Michael McDonald (Gordon Monaghan), Crista Flanagan (Mrs. Monaghan), Arden Myrin (Fairy), Dominic Monaghan (Mangoat), Dan Oster (Manpig), Daheli Hall (News Reporter), Nicole Parker (Nancy Grace), Keegan-Michael Key (Lord Limbsworthy)

Paul's Final Interview
Janine (Crista Flanagan) tells Paul (Keegan-Michael Key) she thinks he's an excellent candidate for the position of Director of Finance. She warns him, though, that her boss Mr. Evans (Michael McDonald) likes to test people. Paul says he'll take the job if Mr. Evans will have him, when Mr. Evans responds that while Paul is handsome, he's not interested in what's between his legs. Mr. Evans says that there is nothing better than a little "lady-burger" in the morning to relieve a hangover, to which Paul responds, he wouldn't know because he doesn't drink. Mr. Evans asks Paul if he gets an erection from watching a dog spend an entire morning licking itself. Mr. Evans decides he wants to take his pants off and starts to do a little dance. Paul asks about his salary, and Mr. Evans proposes he shout out a figure into his buttocks; if the figure is too high, he'll spank himself and yell out "try again, bitch!" Mr. Evans informs Paul that 90% of his job will involve negotiating with a-holes, so he'd better start getting used to it. Paul yells out multiple figures, and finally nails one that sits well with Mr. Evans, who shakes his hand by reaching out between his legs. Paul and Mr. Evans proceed to lay on the floor and rub their nipples. Mr. Evans then proceeds to the bathroom and leaves the door open. Janine asks Paul where he would like to eat lunch as a means to celebrate his hiring. Janine suggests they all go to the new Chili-House, and Mr. Evans says that it sounds good -- nice chunks of solid food. Paul runs out of the office in disgust, and Janine apologizes for bringing him in because he was such a doofus.

Credits: Crista Flanagan (Janine), Keegan-Michael Key (Paul Merrick), Michael McDonald (Mr. Evans)

Commercial: Ray's Chain-Link Fences
A commercial shows various dogs in cages, which creates the facade that this is to promote the adoption of stray animals. The singer (Nicole Parker) sings a song about being dealt a hand which will result in never winning. The commercial turns out to be an advertisement for Ray's Chain-Link Fences. Apparently, there's a 50% discount on all fencing supplies this weekend only.

Credits: Nicole Parker (Vocalist)

Closing: Arden & Cast/Domi-Lost Outtakes
Arden closes the show, and outtakes from Domi-Lost are shown.

Credits: Arden Myrin (herself), Crista Flanagan (herself), Keegan-Michael Key (himself), Bobby Lee (himself), Michael McDonald (himself), Nicole Parker (herself), Jordan Peele (himself), Johnny Sanchez (himself), Daheli Hall (herself), Dan Oster (himself)

i guess this is confirmation that Daheli's been picked up for the remainder of the season.

I hope MADTV comes back next season, and that she and Dan are retained. THey have both been great (and both a lot better than Johnny)

Actually, she never did appear in #1314, and as of this moment, there's no indication that she'll be in #1315 either. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that they're saving her final sketches for the season finale so they can spend all summer deliberating her status. Of course, it's also possible that she's already been let go. Having your sketch pulled days before the airing of an episode certainly doesn't bode well.

Ching Ling! lol. Johnny Gan sucks but that looks moderately funny. Expect these last two episodes to be jam packed with signature Bobby Lee bits. The Domi-Lost sketch centres around Bobby and Dominic Monaghan and there is a new 24 with Bobby Lee in the season finale, featuring Dave Navarro.

The "Fantasy Film" sketch looks great, especially Keegan as Lord Limbsworthy.

I think I remember FOX not updating the cast list on the scheduling information. They'll just keep the same cast list for the remainder of the season regardless of the actual cast.

MysterE has a point about FOX not updating the cast list. Plus, Daheli has had A LOT more airtime and material with her included compared to Anjelah, so I highly doubt that she's been let go.

Actually, they did update the cast listing this season. They removed Anjelah once the first post-strike press-release was released. Daheli will technically be a part of the cast for the remainder of the episodes, even if her 4-episode-contract has been fulfilled and she's not shooting new material for the final two episodes. She still has sketches in the can, therefore she's still part of the cast, and listed as so.

I agree with seanmathis26, that promo #1 is embarassing and won't make people interested in the show.

Well they'd be stupid to get rid of her.

(then again, they've gotten rid of some pretty impressiv people over the years...)

but if they do get rid of her, they have to start the hunt for another black woman all over again!

i mean how many times this season has Keegan been in drag? ANd with Jordan and Keegan having their contracts expiring this season (and at least one of them almost definitely going...and Bobby leaving....if Daheli were to go the show would be VERY white, which would be a very bad thing, imo. If nothing else, it is quite limiting.

I am amazed at this episode... phoenomenal. They finally use sets on the stage, have really some good stuff, and overall have gotten the show back together. I will be updating this with a full review as I watch.

Albanian Idol: A classic s13 idea. Basic, with no real twists. Very predictable, but I enjoyed the Randy and Paula parodies and the lyrics.

Hamlet: The second skit of the night gives me a bad feeling... once again, no development. One joke, repeated 3 or 4 times. On the other hand, it is Bobby Lee admitting his repetitive humor. Hence a third star.

"Lost" with Bobby Lee: This is getting back to where Mad should be. Parody of a needlessly confusing show. Crista and Nicole had a good performance here. The shower scene had me laughing.

Movie Reviews Show: A use of a set!!!! A USE OF A SET!!!!!! Too bad it's the second to last episode... but they finally used a set on the stage. Lighting needs to be improved... a lot. It is very easy to tell it's on the stage. Tching Ling was actually pretty funny. For a Johnny Gan and Pongo skit, I liked it. Four stars for use of a set.

Fox News / Nacho Hernandez: They finally figured out how to use Johnny Sanchez. Let him use HIS OWN CHARACTERS! Nacho (Same as the Pygmy Mexican from his standup bit) is pretty dang hilarious. It's yet another use of a set on the stage. Once again, lighting needs work, but this sketch was the best I've seen in a while. If Johnny has other characters like this, I'd say keep him just for that!

G Mobile 1, 2, 3: Accurate, non-cheap-looking parody of those fave 5 commercials. A great idea, (Charles Barkley trying to destroy DNA evidence is hilarious) good execution, and it didn't drag at all.

Land of Imagitopia: This would have been horrible had it dragged on, but it was perfectly paced. Good performances from Michael and Crista. Loved Nicole's Nancy Grace. The end was slightly morbid, but hey.

Job Interview: This seems similar to other Michael sketches, but it's different enough to feel unique. A little gross, but overall, I don't know what to say about it. Nothing much stood out. Overall,

Ray's Chain Link Fences: Quick, in and out, only one joke, but it was a fairly good one. Plus, Nicole singing.

Arden, Cast Closing: A cast closing. And it looked like they knew this one was good. Bloopers at the end. They were ok. Too short to rate.

Overall, it's way too bad it took this long for them to get thigns on track. This episode was on par with Season 12. They need to fix lighting on stage sets, and they need more character to character interaction. The staple of season 13 seems to be character to straight man, or interview style stuff. We need more stuff like Stuart, where there are two distinct character types interacting. More stage sets, please! Improv and live skits are what makes MadTV.

Overall :

I don't remember seeing a finale promo, but I'll double-check. As for the episode itself, I think that a paraphrase of an old commercial is appropriate here:

Husband: "I can't believe I watched the whole thing."

Wife: "You watched it, Ralph."

(Now watch -- everyone else will love it. )

Oh, and nice knowing you, Daheli.

EDIT: Nope, no promo for me.

I'll submit my full review some time tomorrow night as I am in desperate need of sleep. I will say this much; out of the 4 episodes we've gotten so far (#1312-1315) that utilized the original format, this was THE BEST of the 4 by far. There were a couple of moments where it dragged a bit like the Star Wars Stories and some parts of Albanian Idol, but the positives definitely override the negatives this time around. Also, Blackwind if you're reading this, there was NO season finale promo at all.

Wow, a full review immediately following the episode? Color me impressed!

On the whole, tonight was a decent rebound after the train-wreck that was #1314, but because nothing here seems to scream "five stars", it's unlikely my final rating will top that of #1312. Better this than continuing the downward spiral, though. I'm not overly impressed, but I'm not overly angered either, so I guess that's something.

For those who may have missed it, I once again posted my review of last week's episode much later than usual. As for this week, due to personal problems that, in all likelihood, will soon become personal catastrophes, I'll do what I can, but don't be surprised if #1315 and #1316 go unreviewed. Will the world continue to spin on its axis should the worst come to pass? Well, stranger things have happened, I suppose.

Once again, poll is up, rate the thread, submit your full reviews, and all the usual jazz. To those who checked for the promo, you have my gratitude.
