Biography:
MADtv has been known for finding and cultivating great talent. From master impressionists like Debra Wilson, and Frank Caliendo, genius character creators like Nicole Sullivan, and Michael McDonald, and great singing and voice over talent from players like Phil LaMarr and Nicole Parker. MAD has seen many faces over it's time do some pretty fantastic things on the show, but of everyone who has ever appeared on MAD no one may be anything like Michelle Ortiz, because Michelle contains a talent that very few other actors posses

The talent that Ortiz possesses is the ability to sing, but not just any kind of singing. Ortiz is a professionally trained opera singer, but she didn't travel to New York or Chicago to practice in opera, she received her training across the Atlantic in Germany. Her operatic abilities are just one of the great tools she brings to the MADtv stage, as her training for acting sent her even farther east to Moscow, Russia and the famed Moscow Art Theatre School, a theatre renowned for "the development of modern American theatre."

After her training concluded she came back to America, eager to show America what she has to offer. Her experience and training has not gone unnoticed, as she has booked many tv roles since 2012, including a recurring role in the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. short mini-series, a recurring role on the Nickelodeon show Ricky, Nicky, Dicky and Dawn, and a role on the #1 comedy of the 2015-2016 broadcast tv series Life in Pieces.

Michelle's ability to perform in a role is not limited to one role at a time, as she has proven that she can master a wide variety of characters and characters and impressions. These include characters like Trump's Prostitute, a "hand modeling" agent Harry Brownstein, and a tough talking Latina from the streets named Maria Mercedes Chavez Swarez. She can impersonate the likes of Aubrey Plaza, Penelope Cruz, and Ariana Grande (which may lead to an interesting battle between her and fellow castmate Carlie Craig over who gets to do the impression should it ever come up for a sketch).

With her talent and abilities, Ortiz is set to break out in a big way, and MADtv should be grateful that her first major tv or film role is with the show, as Michelle is an actress set for big things. For her, the sky's the limit, and MADtv is proud to join her on that ride.

Michelle was definitely the star of the new MADtv for me. She was legitimately funny and she (and Carlie too) would have fit right in to the original run. I could totally see her play against Crista Flanagan.
