Default What if Season 13 is a disaster?

What if Season 13 is a complete disaster? What if its writers suddenly get writer's block? What if it's a repeat of Season 7...too many impressions...too few laughs? What if the new format doesn't work? What if it's just like SNL?

MadTV would go bust. There's no doubt about it. This is a real make or break season. It has a large fan base; it's up to MadTV to keep it.

MadTV is doing the wrong thing with it's format change. We need fewer Britney Spears' parodies. We need fewer 24 with Bobby Lees. We need more characters. MadTV needs to return to having solid footing on characters, because that's what made it successful in the first place. We need more Wendy Walker...we need more Coach Hines, and we need more good, funny recurring characters from our most talented cast members!

If Season 13 is a disaster, MadTV will probably not survive. However, if Season 13 is a disaster, and there is a Season 14...on ComedyNetwork or something, MadTV would probably have to make significant changes to its cast. As I say, we need character actors, not impressionists. Why? Because impressions can only be so funny. I'm tired of sketches where a certain cast member puts on a wig, and suddenly becomes a certain person. It takes more than that to have funny impressions. As for characters, though, it's much easier and much funnier than impressions.

Well first of all from what I've read there seems to be both very few impressions AND characters this season, which is a problem. One-offs may be the favorite around here, but parodies and characters are what draws in the most people. Besides, the one-offs this year are more like out on the town sketches then one-offs basing off the taping reports.

However, I don't wanna go into Season 13 with a negative mind. I'd like to just wait and see what happens. It's gonna be VERY different, but hopefully they work it out.

Yeah, but you were there: how did the first two episodes compare to last season? Will we still like MadTV?

Season 12 wasn't as dramatically different from previous seasons as Season 13 was though. It was a little different from the 3 or 4 seasons before it, but not a huge, dramatic format change. So it's hard to compare.

It won't matter since every other show will also suck due to the writer strike.

I agree, We don't need more coach Hines, He ruined the season finale, and was a replacement for the cast sending us off. Whaaaaaaaaa!

But yes I agree! We need to go back to basics, and back to the days of season 2, season 3 and 4, and 5 and... you get the point. The days where Pat Kilbane was our Spishwack man. Where we did more parodies of consumer products (airlines bit was close but we need more). We need some crazy off beat indie, hip hop shnazz!

We need more Frank Caliendo-type humour. (that's right, I used the British spelling) And for that matter, we need more British accents!

But can we do anything about it? What can we do? How can we let them know?

I'll leave that question up to anyone. I hope it's relevant enough not to start a new thread.
