In this week's issue of US Weekly magazine (Sept 1, 2003 edition), there is a brief article on MADtv which includes a color photo of Rusty with Mandy Moore in a section of the magazine about television. Here's what it says:
Saturday Night Live may get the press, but this little-sketch-show-that-could is about to start its ninth season. With out-there Oprah parodies, supremely silly characters like freaky Rusty (Michael McDonald) and the occasional guest star (this week's repeat has Mandy Moore), Mad TV is a lively weekend alternative. It's nice to see MADtv get some press every once and a while. Hopefully season 9 will get even more publicity in the coming months. __________________ Matt (the OTHER one) "If you want to be a better actor - a better lawyer, doctor, teacher - anything - be a better human being." ~ Debra Wilson |

For this past season, I have seen more commercials for MADtv on FOX, well at least the Sacramento, CA (I go to college at UC Davis.. Remember Sorority Life season 1?) viewing market, than during past seasons. I usually see a couple of them on Friday nights, and sometimes during the day on Saturdays. BTW, the 10:00 FOX news channel here always says at the end of their newscast, "Thanks for watching. MADtv is next."
When I'm at home from college in Fresno, CA viewing market, I don't see any publicity at all, and after their 10:00 news they don't even mention what's next. Also, I don't have time to set my tape, b/c there aren't commercials between the end of the newscast and the actual episode of MADtv. So the viewing market has something to do with the publicity. |

Stephnie Weir has gotten some very nice press of late, which is hopefully for the better.

Just do what I do. I set my tape 30 to 45 minutes before the start of MADtv, while thee newscast is still on. I mean really, is it THAT important to watch the news. ![]() |

Maybe someone from the cast will appear on the cover of "Rolling Stone", "Entertainment Weekly" or "Sports Illustrated"
real soon. I bet you will by it the day it comes out. |
