So I assume a lot of people on here saw this or are going to see this. I watched it last night. I've noticed these comic book movies that I've talked smack about for years now have started luring in viewers with good actors as of late. Robert Downy Jr in Iron Man, Heath Ledger and Christian Bale in The Dark Knight and even one of my favorites, Edward Norton in The Hulk. Pretty sneaky, movie industry.
I don't really have a lot to say about Iron Man other than the fact that I was maybe a little bit disappointed, but found some parts enjoyable. Robert Downy Jr wasn't really on his game too much here and we all know Gwenyth Paltrow is not above putting 0 effort into a movie (see Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow), and this one was no exception to that. The long and short of it is that Downy's character gets captured by terrorists and is forced to build a guided missile system. He instead builds an iron suit, feels conflicted about being an arms manufacturer, blah blah blah. The character arc wasn't very believable but nobody is really going to see the movie for that. I'm starting to think that superhero movies and my own preferences may just be incompatible on the topic of good and evil. Iron Man really only does maybe 2 super-heroic things in the course of the movie, like going to a generic war torn, PG-13 middle eastern city and killing all the evil-with-no-motivation middle easterners. The special effects were pretty cool but nothing mindblowing. I suspect if I were to see Speed Racer, which I'm still debating, I'd be far more impressed there. What did everyone else think? __________________ An invariant mass requires rest energy without a HITCH, which makes Newton's second law as it appears in a nonrelativistic classical mechanics sitch, BIATCH. Seems pretty lame but thats just my take one one scene. __________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets punched in the throat. ------------------------------- Morgan & Nik - Nocturnal Twins Forever ------------------------------- "Tacocat is spelled the same backwards and fowards!" Not going to spoil it or anything, but i thought it was a great film, and it is currently the highest rated super hero movie to date according to rottentomatoes, garnering approximately a 94% fresh rating (which is pretty damn good by any standard) __________________ I'm back baby In all my years I have never seen them do that! |
