Default The Zoo/Aquarium Thread

Okay, I know the topic is uber cheesy and i'm so lame but if you don't smile when you visit the Zoo or Aquarium then I can only assume you have no soul.
I personally love both places, and I have a goal to see as many as I possibly can.
So aside from Dartanian and WheelGator, who here loves the Zoo/Aquarium? Which ones? Are there any near you that are really worth going out of your way for?
Pics are cool too!

Omg dude I totally love the Zoo/Aquarium.....

this is the one I grew up going too www.zoo.org

Its the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

I've also been to the Vancouver Aquarium in Vancouver B.C. although I went there when I was but a wee Scorp.

The pics look super. I'm glad you finally got to go.

I've only been to zoo/aquariums in Metro NY. The one problem with that is that with the exception of the Bronx zoo, there isn't enough room as in other zoos, so theres not as many animals as i'd like. But as long as they're kept in humane habitats, i'm cool with that.
But like I said, my goal is to visit as many as I can.

Central Park Zoo (Manhattan, NY) http://www.centralparkzoo.com/
Obviously, you can find this zoo in Central Park. It's got all the zoo highlights; monkeys, polar bears, sea lions, the "popular" amimals. It's small, but the upkeep is great and is a good stop if you're walking in the park.
My friend worked at the gift shop and had a few celeb customers.

New York Aquarium (Brooklyn, NY) http://www.nyaquarium.com/
The NY aquarium is in Coney Island. For a small space, it does have a nice amount of exhibits. Sharks, seahorses, jelly fish. Under water and land viewing and beluga whales! Those are the best.

Prospect Park Zoo (Brookly, NY) http://www.prospectparkzoo.com/
I was here once when I was really young, so I couldn't even say what they have there now. I hear they've renovated it and its real nice, but at the time, it wasn't a very attractive zoo, know what I mean?

Flushing Meadows/Corona Park Zoo (Queens, NY) http://www.queenszoo.com/
The Queens Zoo has more of a theme. All its animals are from the Americas. Bison, bald eagles, pumas, etc.
My favorite are the spectacled bears from the Andes.

The Bronx Zoo (Bronx, NY) http://www.bronxzoo.com/
If you're going to a zoo in New York, you're going to want to see the Bronx Zoo. It's by far the most impressive zoo in NYC and has enough room to hold over 4,000 animals. It has animals of every size, from all over the world. It's definitely my favorite.

Long Island Game Farm (Long Island, NY) http://www.longislandgamefarm.com/
I haven't been here in a while, so I couldn't tell you much. They've got all sorts of animals, exotic and indigenous. I just remember there was an area you could feed baby deer and a stage presentation of a white bengal tiger cub.

zoo, yes. aquarium, no. i'm NOT a fan of specific sea creatures (sea slugs/snails, OCTOPI, sea star...to name a few...) . i MUCH rather the zoo.
both the the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans and the BREC Zoo here in Baton Rouge are pretty entertaining.

The zoo and the aquarium are two of the best places ever. I wanted to go all summer but NO ONE would go. NO ONE would go and attend the zoo with me, guys.

lol. I still want to go.
I go to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence and the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut. Good times.

MM gurl. I've been to two zoos in mah whole life..

The one I went to for most of my life was The Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. It's very nice, and I always enjoyed going...and they had lots of nice things set up around Christmas time...lots of different kind of events, and everytime I went I had a fun time..however....they never had Pandas which..

The San Diego Zoo has. EEEE! I love pandas. They are so ****ing CUTE I just wanna take one home...and I guess not alot of zoos have them or something...I dunno but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the San Diego Zoo. I'm a member Which gives me perks..one of them being, that I can travel around in a cable car high above the zoo, and look down on the pandas, giraffes, elephants, and other animals...
Another thing that's so great about it, is that it's never freezing, so most of the exhibits are outside...alot of the exhibits at the Brookfield Zoo were inside because of the blistering winters and such...boy oh boy do I love the San Diego Zoo.. EEK I wanna go now again..

I believe only the only US zoos with panda's are the National Zoo in DC and San Diego. I wanna go to the San Diego Zoo, i like going to the website and watching the Panda webcam, they're such cam-whores! Panda Cam, Woo!!!

I also wanna go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. http://www.mbayaq.org/ It looks awesome, and it has all kinds of sea life, including whale sharks. NEATO!

I'm glad that i'm not the only person above 8 that appreciates visiting the zoo and the aquarium.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium isn't to far from me, and I'd say it's one of the best I've ever been to. Maybe the only one I've ever been to, but it's still the greatest. They've got everything there, jelly fish, sea otters, sea things, etc.

The best part of the aquarium is this GIANT tank they have in this really dark room. Image you're inside a movie theater, except the screen is a tank, and the only light is coming from the tank. Huge sea turtles swim in there, along with sharks and other aquatic life. It's good.

Zoos, I also like. Like most people, I'm one of those zoo people who has to see the penguins and the meerkats. The big cats and monkeys are pretty nice, too. A lot of nice zoos are here, too.

Wheel Gator does not understand where you base this information off of. Wheel Gator cannot stand the zoo. However, Wheel Gator does enjoy the swamp.
