![]() ![]() ![]() Full Name: Dan Oster [news] Date of Birth: October 12th, 1981 Place of Birth: Los Angeles, CA Height / Weight: 5'10" / 170lbs. Seasons on MADtv: 13 (2007 - 2008) Recurring Characters:
Dan Oster, the latest Boom Chicago alumnus to make the transition to MADtv, likens the desire to do comedy to the thirst for being on the receiving end of about five or six inches of man-meat -- you're either born that way, or you're not. Fortunately for the many audiences the Los Angeles native has wowed over the years with his unparalleled work ethic and ever-improving improvisational chops, the comedy gene was dominant in this one. Born in 1981, Dan first discovered his love for improv during his senior year of high school. When his girlfriend at the time, an aspiring improv comedienne herself, took him to see his first live improv show, he was immediately enthralled by the craft. Upon learning the troupe responsible for the show, Ultimate Improv, was offering paid workshops to foot the bill for their theater space, Dan decided to take the plunge and sign-up. Pre-performance jitters notwithstanding, he loved every minute of what he had gotten himself into, and would go on to perform with Ultimate Improv for the next five years before landing the highly-coveted job with Boom Chicago in July 2005. Among his many accomplishments at Boom, Dan performed in one of the troupe's biggest hit shows to date: "Me, MySpace and iPod". This send-up of the digital age in which we're now trapped was hailed by many critics as "the best Boom Chicago show ever", due in no small part to his quick wit and technological prowess. Between major productions, the up-and-coming star constantly found himself trying a bit of everything by way of his fearless stage persona, from jokingly(?) discussing his penile inadequacy to performing freestyle raps as Cobra Commander from G.I. Joe! If there's one thing for which you can't fault the man, it's lack of courage! Outside the Boom theater, one of Dan's most noteworthy pre-MADtv gigs came in the form of a 30-minute mockumentary-style television program entitled "The Digital Difference". In an effort to promote their service, Optimum Cable brought in several improvisers to play the crew of this fake technology show, and the performers were given free reign to take the production wherever they saw fit. Throughout, the dim, narcissistic "host" (Dan) interviewed real Optimum customers on-location, all the while bickering with the rest of his crew -- a "producer" and a "cameraman". Some might call that an infomercial, but Dan assures us at no point did he utter the words, "Are you telling me that you can get ALL this for only $19.99!?" Having now paid his dues, Dan feels he's finally ready to take on television viewing audiences nationwide. Throughout his seven years in the biz, the improv wizard has performed with some of the top comedic actors in the world without looking like a total dick. Looking forward, he hopes to continue that streak at MAD. Where are they now? During August 2007, Dan will depart Amsterdam and return to his home in Los Angeles. Later in the year, he will begin production on his first season of MADtv, where he'll join fellow Boom alums Jordan Peele and Nicole Parker. Television - Starring Roles:

Note that, while certain unreliable sources (*cough*) have reported that Dan was hired as a featured player, this "fact" was plucked directly out of the air and, until now, didn't hold even an ounce of merit. That said, I can definitively confirm that Wikipedia's 50/50 guess was, in fact, correct.

Jesus, I didn't realize until now how long Dan's bio is--and he hasn't even starred in an episode yet.

Here's some hot man-on-comedy action to tide our resident Oster fans over during the strike:
[vidyt=p2bGDylMqOA]Dan Oster: Character & Impression Reel #1[/vidyt] [vidyt=BWxQbUV7Zco]Dan Oster: Character & Impression Reel #2[/vidyt] Plenty of dead-on impressions and a far more impressive original character lineup combine to make this a more-than-worthy successor to Dan's first reel. Those who enjoyed the original (and even those who didn't) will definitely want to check this one out! __________________ /bw Last edited by blackwind; 04/14/2008 at 2:53 AM. Mrs. Lefferts lol! Hopefully when MADtv gets back on the air with new material, they'll feature some of Dan's impressions because he's amazing.

Mrs. Lefferts was actually the one character I *didn't* like. I can deal with what little we saw in the video, but I could see her becoming very annoying *very* quickly. Beyond that, Alec Baldwin's voice isn't distinctive enough to make for a viable impression, but everything else here was great! If the writers find a way to work Paul Reiser into a sketch, I'll be one happy camper!

Well after watching it again, I see what you mean about Mrs. Lefferts. Paul Reiser was good though. Maybe if MAD gets its act together, they'll use material like this instead meaningless filler (i.e. Stand Up Comedians). Dan is offically on my list of people next to godliness...and so are you BW

Out of all the quick timelines I have done, this one stings the most. A quick timeline for a man who should have moved on, but due to what I consider incompetence by the network he did not. The man I am talking about is of course Dan Oster. The most successful and most likely popular cast member of Season 13, gone for absolutely no reason. Even though this is under the quick timeline name, this is the hardest one for me to put under that name, as I truly believe that Dan Oster was the best one season cast member the show has ever had. So let's go over the good times of Dan's one year in the quick timeline of Dan Oster.
2007: Dan gets hired for MADtv season 13 as a feature player. November 24, 2007: Dan appears in his first sketch Introducing Dan Oster. Watch the Sketch February 2008: Dan gets hired for the rest of season 13. May 17, 2008: Dan appears in his last episode on MADtv. He would last be seen in the closing. June 22, 2008: The website Planet MADtv reports (through an update by mizzimad that Dan had been terminated of his MADtv status. July 2, 2008: Dan writes to the members of Planet MADtv thanking the fans for their support. See the post As for Dan's future it really hasn't been mapped out yet, he just got axed from MADtv a few weeks ago, so he hasn't done much. In his thank you to the fans of Planet MADtv, he states that he is going to "focus on my true goal: finding and deleting every picture of me in my underwear from the Internet". He also states that he would like to give stand-up comedy a shot at sometime in the future. Maybe the firing from MADtv will give him the jump he needs to switch over to that medium. Anyway, let's just hope this isn't the last time we see Dan on our television or movie screens, because he is truly a talent that I beleive in the future MADtv will regret losing. __________________ ![]() ![]() Planet MADtv (August 28th 2002- August 28th 2009, August 28th 2010)

Ohhh man this just hit me hard. You know that the cast member is really gone when tvman does a timeline of you (no offense to you, just saying).
This just brings a hollowness to my heart, but I always liked to see Dan perform as a host (One In A Million, Girlicious, American Idol). He just brings that charm out. All the best to Dan, and to tvman, keep rockin' and churning these timelines out. Heh. __________________ Gimme Crista or gimme nothing! |

Tvman, I never expected you to take my Melissa Paull, etc., suggestion seriously.
![]() ![]() That said, I echo the sentiment that this is hardly the timeline that Dan deserved. If I weren't so damn tired, then I'm sure that I could conjure up a brilliant joke about adopting a timeline before it's too late. It probably wouldn't be very funny anyway, but just the thought of it might make my dreams more entertaining tonight...well, that and the numerous midget porn fantasies. __________________ "Charles Nelson Reilly is a bad mutha...."
