It was a good episode. For some reason, I love seeing Bobby Lee getting abused.

I missed the first 10 minutes of this ep, but overall 1116 kind of sucked (the Ashlee Simpson video was unfortunately disappointing), except for Astroman and Killbrain, which was hilarious (Jordan was great...not so much Ike), and much better than the first one. On another note...Nicole's Cher impression was great, wasn't it? That alone was probably the highlight of this ep for me. 24 w/ Bobby Lee was lame, though, because it recycled the EXACT same jokes from the last one.

Brokeback 2: Good in parts, but not as much Crista and Nicole kissin' as expected. It was a lot of the same thing over and over again, but still good.

24 w/ Bobby: Cho: Same 24 jokes, same situations. Awkward talking with Bobby slapping. I really only like watching Bobby dance with the Robosapien. The rest played out awkwardly.

Nicole's Date: A pretty funny one, except for the fact that I thought Nicole was married, and swore I saw a ring on her ring finger. Other than that, It was funny, and I actually enjoyed Ike in this one.

Ike, John; Bae Sung: Ike does a good Bae, I guess.

Ashlee - L.O.S.E.R: The Clip of the Week made it out to be a bit funnier, but when it aired it wasn't anything special to me. Nicole has the look, but it wasn't the greatest of music videos.

Clooney: MadTV is poor part 1.

Maury and Connie: It seemed like it was done just for the sake of being done. There was nothing really to it, except for Bobby being Connie once again. Not a good sketch at all. n i dunt no wut u guyz meen mike and bobbie kissin iz hella funni

Boat with Nicole and Bobby: Nothing special.

Killbrain: Best sketch of the night. I've never enjoyed Ike as much as I did in this sketch. Great job with the whole thing. If we had more of these good-type sketches, we'd be better off.

Cragg: MadTV is poor part 2. Same location, same thing, same crap.

Nicole Date Bloopers: I don't know why, but I love bloopers, especially sketch comedy ones. I agree, these are better than "KTHNX GUDNITE!" every week. Good choice.

... And as MadTV continued on, the world forgot that Arden and Daniele were ever castmembers, and Frank Caeti and Nicole RJ became whipsers in the wind.

Hmmm... I think I found out what I don't like about MADtv lately... If I had just started watching MADtv with the show last night I would've guessed that it was a 3 person cast. There was Nicole, Bobby, and Ike... Mike, Jordan, Crista, and Keegan... were in one or two sketches too, but for the most part it was all the same people. I don't like that. I find Nicole funny, but last night wasn't all that impressive. I'm so annoyed with Bobby... how the hell does he get off being in every single sketch? He's not even funny. He's such a sketch whore... what about Daniele? Or Nicole RJ? Or the rest of the cast? Despite having some God awful castmembers on their hands MADtv does have some pretty kick ass funny peeps... but we never get to see them. The focus is always Bobby and Ike.. Ike is improving, Bobby thinks hes found his 'funny' by yelling a whole lot, being naked, getting beat up, and playing up the Asian stereotypes... so he continues to do all that stuff thinking he's hilarious because of the stupid MADtv laugh tracks, and as a result hes only worsening. At least Ike is toning it down and cluing in on more subtler humour. I'm afraid for next season. I can see MADtv cutting all the people who are regularly on an episode for budget reasons.. leavign us with Keegan, Ike, Bobby, Nicole, Arden and Mike... don't get me wrong... Nicole, Arden, Mike, and Ike, can all be very hilarious but not when stuck with the crappy castmembers and sketches... Why was Nicole stuck with Bobby for that Cruise Ship Singing sketch? Were they being that married teacher and student again? They better have, otherwise there is no reason to let Bobby ruin a sketch like that... Nicole was very funny... Bobby was... Bobby.

PLEASE MADTV. I KNOW SOME OF YOU READ THESE BOARDS. LISTEN TO US: LESS BOBBY! I'm not even saying you should fire him... just... less. I, and I think we all, wanna see more diversity in the sketches... You don't have to hire more people... they're all there... we just never get to see them. LETS SEE MORE Daniele, Nicole RJ, Frank Caeti, Crista, and Jordan!

Thank You.

Okay, I don't really feel like going into detail about this ep, but I must say that I generally enjoyed it. I think it was one of the stronger episodes this season. Hell, I'll go as far as to say that season 11 may be the most underrated season ever. Sure it's had some stinkers, but what season hasn't (aside from season 5, which was perfect beyond words)?

Bobby Lee generates the most cheers when he makes an entrance.

And I don't know anything about how MadTV controls the audience when it shoots, because I've seen some recurring sketches that have re-used the laughter from the first sketch. I dunno if it's the same with things like the opening credits.

Anyway, I felt that Bobby was pretty under-used in the previous episodes; that's why somebody probably made an appeal and had this one highlight Bobby and his "successful" sketches like Bae Sung and 24.

I can obviously imagine him sticking around for at least one more season. Just because he isn't popular around here doesn't mean the general public doesn't appreciate him. To me, I like him sometimes, but he's shameless to the point where he would go naked and be beaten up by castmembers JUST to get laughs. I mean come on... well at least HE acknowledges what makes him funny. Though I don't find it very funny.

And about Ike... I know I have the typical girl-crush on him but I acknowledge he's a weak member and doesn't add too much dynamic compared to the other members. Though, I can also imagine him sticking around for a few more seasons. He's just the generic-male-character. His Kevin Federline annoys the hell out of me, though. BUT, I did enjoy some of his escapades with Bobby. Minus all the Bobby going naked.

edit- Plus I forgot to mention how the fact that Bobby does more female roles than male somewhat irks me. But that's okay, because there are obviously more Asian women in the media than Asian men. And, like Cuthbert once said, people only recognize him if he's in a dress.

Bobby has had very few female roles this season, compared to past seasons at least. The more characters he gets, the less female roles he plays. I prefer him in drag personally.

I'm not sure if they changed the make up and costume for Killbrain The Fury in this episode, but is it just me, or could Killbrain (from ep #920 or #921) and Blind Kung Fu Master pass as twins?

EDIT: Nicole Parker is *NOT* married, a few months ago she wasn't even in a relationship so I doubt she'd go from single to married in the timespan of 3 months. This I am 100% sure of, I've heard it from an extremely credible source. Maybe Caitlinn can back me up.

I knooooooow you're not speaking for MEH! *Does the Bunifa thing with the hair.*

All right, review time....

"Brokeback Mountain 2"--Ike's parts are the only ones that made me laugh (punching the deer head, disguising himself as a tree). Otherwise, the premise of this very obvious parody--guys like girl-on-girl, ha ha--kills the sketch.

"Show Opening"--Another major disappointment. Nicole's overacting may have been for sheer effect, but it is definitely not funny to me. The outtakes at show's end are quite hilarious, though, esp. Ike's cracking up. Otherwise, nyah.

"24"--Best sketch of the night (even though perhaps it's not a sketch per se). For me, it doesn't kick into high gear until John Cho's "puppies" remark awakes Bobby. (Firecrackers, no; "puppies," yes. ) Everything else works brilliantly: the all-too-brief robot dance; "freeze, LAPD"; the attack by midgets...hehe, I could watch it all day long. (So could you--just admit it. )

"George Clooney Commercial"--The joke here, folks, is that G.C. really did appear on "The Facts of Life" and all the other things mentioned. That being said, the joke is still not that funny, but at least now you know.

"Maury Povich and Connie Chung"--OMG, two guys kissed! Ewwwwwwww, grooooooooss, why couldn't it have been two girls? Please! It's not that bad, is it? Anyway, though inconsistent, this sketch has some funny bits.

Bae Sung bit--For once, I'll agree with you greaseballs who don't like--read "don't GET"--Bae Sung. This is filler, nothing more.

"Ashley Simpson: L.O.S.E.R."--Except for a minor moment when Nicole does the "allo, allo, allo" British-accent bit, this is a turkey.

Nicole and Bobby's riverboat sketch--Wow, it's as if someone took one of Alex Borstein's Shaunda sketches, changed the setting, and removed all--well, most--of the humor. Another disappointment.

Starbucks/Killbrain/Astroman--This doesn't work as well as the grocery store bit from Season 9, but it's okay, I guess.

Steven Cragg--Although some of these are funny, some ain't. This one falls into the latter category.

Overall, this is a mediocre episode with some occasionally good, even great, moments, most of them supplied by--you got it--Bobby Lee. (I'll bang that drum until you dance to mah music, folks.) However, there aren't nearly enough of these moments to sustain an entire episode. Although Arden's absence is a definite plus--yeah, I said it!--it's not quite enough to merit more than a 2/5 rating for 1116. The lone voice of dissent signing off, bytchez.

About Nicole's marital status:

She wasn't wearing any rings at all when I saw her at the Waterwell benefit a couple of weeks ago. (I'll do a writeup of the event in the cast member forum as soon as I have the time)

This site may or may not be reliable, but it's where I read that Nicole was married. It's here. She's at number 11.

She had a ring on in the sketch, right hand though. Might have just been a ring, but who knows? Hell, if Caitlnnn knows, the Gospel has been spread.

Now what guy would ever treat Nicole that way? She's funny, smart, cute, sexy, and down-to-earth.

Cragg? I enjoy his pieces. The hazmat suit for feeding "bums" had me roaring. I'm sorry, but this guy makes me laugh (actually, I'm not sorry at all).

As long as Bobby lays off Bae Sung (although this one wasn't too bad, since it was so brief), he's alright with me. I like the 24's, even if there is a lot of repeat material in them. The robot dance with the wrestling mask always cracks me up. I loved last week's repeat, when Cena kept slapping him, HARD, on the chest, and I loved when the midget bitch-slapped him this week for the "Wizard of Oz" crack.

Sorry, but I've grown to like Arden (no, I'm not really sorry at all). She's hard to figure out; one minute she looks weird, the next kind of cute. I think she's a shape-shifter from a parallel reality. And I like her shape, and how she shifts it. Missed her Saturday night.

But I do agree that they need to find work for more of the cast. Ike pretty much sucks, and appears way too much. And there's not enough Daniele or Crista for my taste. I really enjoy those two.

Hmm, I don't think she's married, from what I've heard, but I'm not totally sure (could try and find out, of course...).

my late review...sue me bitches, my internet was messed up for like...a little while

Brokeback Mountain II: The Cowgirls - It was ok. I don't really care for seeing Crista and Nicole kiss because I'm not a pervie mcpervertson. Ike dressed as a tree was hella funny though.

Open: Nicole's Date - I thought this was really funny.

24 with Bobby Lee: Louie Anderson Audition - I thought this was funny too. But the beginning is starting to annoy me. Ok Bobby, we get it...you sleep all day. har har.

George Clooney Ad - UM? This was weird. It was an ok idea I guess...

Weekends With Maury and Connie - I thought the "YOU ARE NOT THE BABY'S FATHER!" bits were really funny because Maury is getting ridiculous with those paternity test shows. Bobby's Connie Chung makes me laugh everytime because of how dumb they make her. Mike's Maury was wayy off but it was funny still. I'm sure Mike enjoyed kissing Bobby.

Bae Sung Switch - Oy...Cho was funny. Not the best idea though. And this should have been an opener because it was out of place, it seemed.

Music Video: Ashlee Simpson "L.O.S.E.R" - I liked this. That song sucks ass and Ashlee does too.

Hello, Hollywood! Hello! - I liked this mainly for Nicole. Bobby was ok, I guess.

Starbucks Superheroes - I loved the first one. This one was funny too. Ike was good. Jordan was grrrreat.

Cragg: Good Samaritan - Putting on a biohazard suit to deal with homeless people = hilarious. That was the only great part but as a whole it wasn't bad. I'd still rather see the cast though.

Close: Nicole's Date Outtakes - I love outtakes. Good stuff.

Overall - I liked this episode. It was refreshing. I agree with that crazy canadian though...less Bobby plz.

Well, she still has Upcoming Sketches that need to be aired, so I don't think she's off the show for good .... yet.

I really agree with this... and thsi is coming from someone who generally supports Bobby. Too much of one thing diminishes its quality.

Only half the cast was doing anything significant this episode.

This entire episode was flat... I TiVo MadTV, and it is rare when I fastforward through something new because it is so bad.

I also believe that Nicole Parker is one of the stronger cast members, but I found myself unthrilled by all of her sketches. BBMtnII suffered more from over production and a weak script (she was good), but
1. The date sketch... I presume that N.P.'s training is firmly rooted in musical theater, which means that you are trained to overact. This sketch would have been much more effective without the preamble (just launch into the fantasy segment) and if she didn't go ALL AGRO FROM MOMENT ONE. I wish that she had lost her cool more gradually. It just reminded me of bad high school theater. Can you imagine how much funnier this would be if she could have channeled some of Crista's command of comic pacing (a la Luanne?)
2. The video. Well, I hate all MadTV video parodies, and I've already posted my monologue for why MadTV parodies are generally weak and unsatisfying. so I'll recuse myself from commenting. The ones that I occcasionally like, (like the James blunt video last new episode)... well, they must be really awesome if I like them. I'm just way too old and unhip to give a cr*p about Ashlee Simpson.
3. Showboat: see commentary on the date sketch. This was just terrible. Hit fastforward on TiVo. They obviously meant for it to be bad, but they didn't go all the way. It would have been much funnier with Stephnie and, I dont know, other people who better know the subtle art of being awkward.

(Nicole... I'm ragging on you because you are worth ragging on... xoxo)

changing topic: I dont know why MadTV bothers with those purely voice-over and title segments. Sure, its cheap... but I would much rather see a "classic" than suffer through these PowerPoint presentations.

The episode gets kudos for the following... more bare-stage sketches before a live audience than otherwise. This talented cast doesn't need to rely on a heavy production budget for laughs. While the "live" sketches were uniformly weak this time, I applaud the effort. it seems much more genuine.

I'm noticing a lot of content against the "Hello, Hollywood" sketch. What's the deal? Yeah, it was a terrible sketch, yet it was perfectly aware that it was a terrible sketch. It was brilliant! (In that respect, and in that respect only).
