Memoirs of a Geisha - I missed the first little bit of this...it was ok. Typical Bobby Lee stuff.
Open: Neil Patrick Harris - Once again, they have used this same exact joke way too many times. As Christina said, there was an opening with Mo Collins that followed the exact same format and there have also been sketches exactly like this as well. We know FOX likes to shamelessly advertise during other shows, it's not funny. This has been done way too much. QVC: Quacker Factory - Easily one of the most hilarious sketches all season. Did anybody know that this is a parody of an actual QVC show? I was watching MADtv last night with my friend Monica and she was dying laughing because she's seen the actual "Quacker Factory" show on QVC. She said that her designs are exactly like that, they are hideous. This was so funny, Nicole Parker was awesome here. This really highlights her talent, both the writing and acting were flawless and hysterical. As people have said in the past, why not let the cast write more? It's usually a lot funnier than what the writers have been coming up with lately. Stuart Meets Santa - I didn't mind this so much because it's been a while since we've seen Stuart. He's not all that funny without Doreen, though. Sean The Floor Leader: Going Away Party - Eh, I don't like this character. This looks like it may be his final sketch, which is probably a good thing. Inside Looking Out: Kwanzmas Carols - I hate these. I didn't even like the first one and over time the joke is getting old. Ok, I know she's racist and her husband is black. Every one of these sketches is just her making racist comments without knowing that she's doing it. It gets old. I didn't like this one at all. Jazzed for Crafts: Rodeo - I'm still not a big fan of these characters. This was ok, but they are quickly becoming overused. The Silver Fox: Holiday Show - Without Muriel, he's not all that funny. This was ok, but if it gets recurred too much it will get really tiresome. Close: Ike & Cast - This was ok. OVERALL - With the exception of the very first parody, every other sketch was a recurring character or sketch. While this worked well in the past, a lot of the newer characters just aren't that funny and are becoming quickly overused. One major problem is that a lot of them are one-joke characters and once you see them over and over again, it's really repetitive and not all that funny. With that said, this was probably one of the stronger episodes so far this season. This season's strongest cast members, such as Michael McDonald and Nicole Parker, were spotlighted, putting some of the weaker cast members that have been given a lot of air time this season, such as Ike and Bobby, in lesser roles. While Stuart is an eye-roller for some of the bigger fans, he is still one of the big draws to MADtv for the casual viewer. It was definitely one of the stronger episodes for season 11. __________________ Matt (the OTHER one) "If you want to be a better actor - a better lawyer, doctor, teacher - anything - be a better human being." ~ Debra Wilson |

After the extreme disappointment of last week, last night's episode was very relieving. Silver Fox and Inside Looking Out were just ok, but the rest were all great. Sean the Floor Leader and Stuart were pretty good. QVC, hands down, best sketch of the night. Jazzy Girls will get real old if they don't wait awhile before sketch #4.

Memoirs of a Geisha: A good excuse to dress up Bobby as a woman. Not sure how good it was in terms of a parody, but it was a funny one.
Open: Neil Patrick Harris: I haven't seen Mo's opener, but this was good. Stephnie's "If I ran MADtv, Bobby Lee wouldn't work here," bit was the best quote of the night. QVC: Quacker Factory: I liked the QVCs that were more insult related, but this one worked. We needed more Nicole, and we got it. Crista's faces really did this justice. We still need more Daniele. Stuart Meets Santa: Crista made me cringe in the beginning, but the sketch ended up being better than I expected. A good post-Dorene sketch. One of the better sketches of the night. Sean The Floor Leader: Going Away Party: I don't think this is the end of this sketch. They aren't going to wait for Neil to come back every time to keep this going, they can work it out. Not one of the best Seans I've seen. Inside Looking Out: Kwanzmas Carols: Good characters, but the jokes and the situations are running out. The carols were pretty good. Jazzed for Crafts: Rodeo: Too many in too short of a time. The Franks did a great job, but this is probablly my least favorite of the Crafty Gals. The Silver Fox: Holiday Show: I was expected Muriel to pop in at anytime. If you are keeping this sketch, KEEP MURIEL! Worst of the night. Close: Ike & Cast: We missed the closers, now we get them. Keegan's one and only appearance this episode. And am I right in assuming we're on a hiatus until January 7th? I doubt we're having a show on Christmas or New Years Eve. |

Arden, Crista and Nicole RJ played the three old ladies in the Silver Fox sketch......they didn't have names, but Izador referred to them as the "widows"

I'm not gonna bother individually rating the sketches, but this ep was a huge improvement over the last couple this season, I enjoyed all sketches, except for the guest star's opening, and the Jazzed for Crafts girls. I really want to like them, and I did the first time, but their other appearances haven't dazzled me. I wish they'd kept the "homo!" thing to a one time thing, or at least not said it as often. It was hilarious the first time, and I think that maybe they thought it would be funny every time they used it, but.... It's not. |

Wasn't that Frank Caieti as Santa? I was thinking it was him, so I came to check here, but I don't see it listed. Or was it one of the writers? It was hard to tell who it was.

Memoirs of a Geisha: Didn't get it.
Open: Neil Patrick Harris: It was still funny the 2nd time around QVC: I loved those priceless reactions of the "models" Christmad with Stuart: Not another Stuart! Bye, Bye Sean?: If this is the last Sean sketch, at least it ended with a bang. Inside Looking Out: The Black and White of Christmas:Too short, not enough edge Jazzed for Crafts: Rodeo: End This NOW! Old Fogies: Better than last time Close: Ike & Cast: Eh, just another closing [/QUOTE] |

Haha, you can order holiday sweaters from QVC's Quacker Factory. To go to the official website, click here. They are pretty ugly if you ask me. lol

Memoirs of a Geisha: Okay, I know I openly bashed this in the Upcoming Sketches Thread, but this was quite good. Even though when Bobby and Ike were together it was quite gross, but hilarious. Bobby's "asianness" is good in small doses. And this one was better than average. 4/5
Open: Neil Patrick Harris: It was good to see Steph again, and the sketch concept was funny. It was true too...I hate it when that happens. 3/5 QVC: Quacker Factory: Yay Nicole! She's always great in stuff she writes. She really knows her talents. The whole thing had me laughing, and the models were funny too. 4/5 Stuart Meets Santa: I've always been a fan of Stuart, and this didn't do anything to change that. Even without Mo, this was a great sketch. Stuart's lines to Nicole RJ and Jordan were hilarious. 4/5 Sean The Floor Leader: Going Away Party: I've always thought that Sean was a little bit above average sketch, but this one was great. Neil Patrick Harris was good as the new boss, and Sean's physical comedy and lines were great. 3.5/5 Inside Looking Out: Kwanzmas Carols: Inside Looking Out definitely isn't as good as it once was, but it's still good. They'll have to introduce something new to keep my interest. It was just getting old in this sketch. 3.5/5 Jazzed for Crafts: Rodeo: I love thesegirls! Arden and Crista are a great pairing, and it would be nice to see Frank and Frnak come back. All four seemed to play off of each other well. 4.5/5 The Silver Fox: Holiday Show: Isador was much funnier when he was on 7 AM Condo Report, but he isn't bad on this. I hope they don't reuse this character too much, because I don't find it particularly interesting. Ike just sort of annoys me throughout the sketch. 3/5 Close: Ike & Cast: It was a closing. Not much else to say. 2.5/5 High Point: Jazzed For Crafts: Rodeo Low Point: Close: Ike & Cast End Results: 32/45 or 71% Conclusion: This definitely was the best epsiode of the season. The sketches were just better written and better acted. Some other things I liked were that the commercials were better spaced out, and they didn't just save total crap for the end. Also, they didn't overuse anyone, everyone got a pretty fair amount of screentime. However, MAD is definitely setting themselves up for some potentially overused sketches that will soon become unfunny. But all-in-all, this is a pretty good episode of MAD for any season. __________________ If you are illiterate, you can't read this. ***Winner of Worst Username in the '05 Planet MADtv Awards*** |

Memoirs: one of the best parodies MAD TV has ever done, bar none. Bobby was hilarious, and the whole thing looked, well, like a movie trailer. In fact, it looked A LOT like the real one. Very cool.
Neil Patrick Harris opening - funny idea. I hate all those Fox promos, so I was glad to see Mad making fun of them. Stuart: I like Stuart, so I say thumbs up, though I don't know if he needed to get racial. I like the way Michael McDonald explains Mo's absense by always making her drinking somewhere. Sean Gidcomb with Neil Patrick Harris - Okay. It seemed like it had about 10 endings though. Neil Patrick Harris did a pretty good job imitating Sean Gidcomb. It looked like he had fun doing it. Silver Fox: I was disappointed in this one. I love Michael McDonald, but the whole thing made me kind of sad. That character didn't used to be so pathetic, did he? Craft Girls: I like these characters, and the two Franks as the horny fat cowboys made me laugh, especially how Frank Caliendo did those lame magic tricks. Crista Flanigan really cracks me up in these. She looks like a girl I knew in high school! Inside Looking Out - really funny. Nicole and Jordan are great in these, and I love that they also write them. All in all, a good show. And it helped put me in the Christmas spirit almost as much as South Park Christmas! __________________ "That's not a real baby!" |

Oh, I forgot that QVC piece. Funny! I can't believe that is a real show on QVC. Well, then again, I guess I can...
