Exclamation World Trade Center

In the same vein as "United 93" another movie is coming out based on the September 11 attacks. This time it is directed by Oliver Stone and is to be released later this year, presumably September 11. Looks to be a very emotional thought provoking film as most Oliver Stone movies are, heres a plot summary from IMDB.com:

In the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster, hope is still alive. Refusing to bow down to terrorism, rescuers and family of the victims press forward. Their mission of rescue and recovery is driven by the faith that under each piece of rubble, a co-worker, a friend a family member may be found. This is the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno, the last two survivors extracted from Ground Zero and the rescuers who never gave up. It's a story of the true heroes of that fateful time in the history of the United States when buildings would fall and heroes would rise, literally from the ashes to inspire the entire human race.

Dunno how i feel about this movie or if i will go see it. Thoughts/comments on this??

Meh, Oliver Stone and his high horse ride again...
I feel that filmwise, 9/11 is the new "hot tragedy", like the Rwanda genocides or the Holocaust, and people are sort of itching to get a "real, thoughtful and emotional" story out there with only an afterthought to people that were actually there, or their loved ones.

Thats not to say some of these films are good (and work directly w/ survivors), or that this one won't be, but I hate to see hollywood cash on tragedy.

United 93 is probably one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. It was so...realistic, so true. I was pretty much speechless after it. It is so emotional. So well done. I'm at a loss for words just talking about it.

I really feel sort of conflicted abot these 9/11 movies. It just seems like they don't need to be made and that its far too soon to be making profits off of 9/11. We all were here and saw what happened, these movies just seem unnecessary. I might watch it thought, I haven't decided yet.

I think it will be very.... I can't even think of a word but more of a cry for attention.
United 93 isn't about terrorism or politics or anything propaganda related. It is simply the event of the plane crashing from the perspective of the passengers and crew only. No post 9/11 opinions at all. I find that to be a very admirable way to make a film about such a tragic event.

Oliver Stone will milk all the hot topics he can to try and stand out I think. I think he made the film for the wrong reason whereas United 93 seems like the most respectful way to make a film about 9/11 in my opinion.

Nemesis, profits have already been made off of 9/11 a long time ago..remember all the "commemorative" coins, window flags, regular flags to hang out your house, bumper stickers, etc. sold after 9/11?

Does Oliver Stone like make a movie after every tragedy that happens or something..?

Oliver Stone makes movies about everything, as long as it makes him look insightful.

Wah Wahhh

Yeah I suppose you're right about that. I just think hollywood should be focusing on making good movies (not remakes, comic book movies and variations of bring it on) rather than tragedies that happened just a few years ago.

BTW, I know this is off topic but PitaPockets, your avatar is hypnotic. I was on the phone with my boss for like an hour and a half just now and I kept staring at your avatar. There aren't any subliminal messages in it are there?

Maybe it's because Mrs Campbell is pure sex, her hips drive everyone crazy, much like Elvis as well. But if there were subliminals, perhaps Oliver Stone would make a conspiracy movie about my av...

I think Mrs. Campbell's hip shaking is HIGHLY inappropriate and she should have only been filmed from the waist up. How did that episode NOT recieve a TV-MA rating?

I don't feel the urge to watch this. Why watch a dramatic re-enactment when you saw the whole thing as it happened on tv?

Yeah it does seem kind of redundant to me.

What do you mean..? I didn't even see the whole thing on T.V. You mean you saw the planes crashing? Well, the movie might go deeper than that..or it might just be stupid..I dunno but I'm wondering what you mean by "I sw the whole thing on tv" because youre in New Zealand..lol

This movie definetly comes off to me as a hoorah america lets fight terrorism kind of movie. Personally i think 9/11 was just horribly blown out of the water, i admit the lives lost were tragic, but this was small on the scale of global death and terror. I could go on forever but i'll refrain for now so i dont get my foot caught in my mouth.

Honestly though i just think if the movie does end up being a rah rah america type movie then it will definetly not be anywhere on my list of movies to watch.

1) Pretty sure it hasn't been released yet.

2) Calling 9/11 small on a website full of Americans isn't cool. 9/11 was a big deal here.
