Did anyone watch? I thought that The Office should have taken everything it was up for. Also, Kyra Sedgwick deserves the Emmy for best lead actress in a drama series for The Closer. 30 Rock did not deserve ONE Emmy they were up for. I hate that show.
Anyway, what were your thoughts? |

I also thought Michael Emerson from Lost should have won Best Supporting Actor. His role in the episode he was nominated for was one of the best acting performances I have ever seen. __________________ ![]() ![]() Planet MADtv (August 28th 2002- August 28th 2009, August 28th 2010)

I thought the whole show was good EXCEPT for Josh Groban (and Howie Mandel). I thought Kathy Griffin with Don Rickles was great! I love them both!

Haha Ricky Gervais was hilarious, as always. I agree the Office should have gotten some awards though, it's just soo good! I actually thought the hosts were pretty lame, it was kinda all over the place and definitely not funny.. I found Josh Groban amusing but in a cheesy way, like when he was trying to do the sexy run from Baywatch haha

Family Guy just received its first Emmy Nod this year

I was reading on TV Guide that NBC this year got more nominations than any other network. NBC. The worst major network in terms of ratings on television, and a network whose president says that they will no longer be competing with all the other networks got more nominations than any other network. There is just something so wrong about this, I mean, the Office is good, but that's pretty much it. These decisions really just prove that the Emmy's are really out of touch with the television audience. In fact, even the crew of Lost said that they were shocked that they got nominated for best drama since they thought that the use of time travel for the season was going to knock them out of the running. It should be people like us voting for these things, not a bunch of stuffy over 50 executives who only judge good programming by what reviewers tell them.
Since I'm here, I guess I'll go over some of my Emmy choices. I'll go over who I think is going to win, but I'll also talk about my problems with some of the nominations if applicable. I'll only do the comedy nominations because I don't want many dramas, but I'll elaborate on the ones that interest me. Outstanding Supporting Actor, Comedy One person missing was a person who had a great season on a very special show. That person is mr. Keegan-Michael Key of MADtv. If Amy, and Kristin can get nominated for SNL, why can't Keegan get the nomination here? He had a season this season that turned him from an ok cast member, to one of the greatest that ever come through the show. Such a snub, such a snub ![]() Outstanding Supporting Actress, Comedy Out of all the categories, I have the most problems with this one. Out of so many great supporting actresses like Portia De Rossi on Better Off Ted, and Jenna Fischer from The Office, who had probably her greatest season this season, they pick these ones. I have no idea why both Kristin Wiig, and Amy Poehler are both up for this category when there were so many other people that could have replaced at least on of them. Also, I don't know why Jane Krakowski is on this list. She is totally unfunny on 30 Rock, and should not be here. I can't really decide on this one, because I either don't watch any of the shows, or hate the shows. Outstanding Supporting Actor, Drama Again, not saying anything, but I am glad to see Michael Emerson on this list. He is by far one of the best characters on Lost. Outstanding Actor, Comedy I really have no problem with this list, as all of the people here are deserving, but if one person should win, it has to be Steve Carell. His performance this season on the Office was by far his best performance so far, and possibly his best acting performance ever. He still kept Michael Scott the buffoonish character the fans know and love, but when it came to compassionate moments, like when Michael had to console Pam after she foolishly left Dunder Mifflin to follow Michael in his flawed paper business, Steve took his acting to a whole other level. He hasn't won the Emmy since 2006, but after his performance this year, and the so-so season 30 Rock apparently had (by what I've heard from some critics), Steve looks like he is going to be back in Emmy contention. Outstanding Actress, Comedy Out of this list, one actress is blaringly missing. That actress is the beautiful Nicole Sullivan, of Rita Rocks. How the hell is she not here! Rita was by far the best new comedy show on television, and Nicole was excellent. As for a choice, I'm just going to say Tina Fey, because I think we all know it's going to go to her anyway. I mean, all the voters probably have Tina's picture nailed above the headboard of there beds. Outstanding Series, Comedy Why is Family Guy in this list? Family Guy to me has been going downhill since it came back from being cancelled. Although, it will be nice to see Alex on the red carpet, knowing where she came from. As for a winner, it has to be The Office. The Office had it's best season since season 5, and probably it's best season ever, and if a show in it's 5th season can get better as it goes, that's a sign of a great show, and that's what the Office has done. Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series One show is clearly missing from this list. MADtv. They are much better than SNL, and David Letterman. Clearly the Emmy's have no idea what a good show is. As for a winner, I'll pick the Daily Show, because it's kind of funny when I watch it. These are all I'm going to pick from. Not a great closing, but meh ![]() __________________ ![]() ![]() Planet MADtv (August 28th 2002- August 28th 2009, August 28th 2010)

How in the hell did 30 Rock get 22 Emmy nominations anyway

Simple, it's as I said, all the judges have Tina Fey nailed to there headboard so they can look at her when they are having sex with their partners or by themselves.

Those aren't good points. Maybe the documentary is airing in another country, maybe they get paid more money if the camera goes to their house. Those are really the only two points he makes. Also, the Office kicks Famly Guy's ass!

I'm sure if you stretch you could come up with a reason for it. The thing is that the original Office stuck pretty strictly to the premise and didn't drag on and on. The American verison of The Office abandoned most of the subtlety of the original but somewhere along the line abandoned the premise too. Its still a sorta funny show, but the points are pretty spot on.
Also one would be correct as well in saying that a good number of the jokes in Family Guy or any derivative series are complete non-sequiturs thrown in without any care to context, e.g. "this sucks more than that one time __bizarre unrelated pop culture reference__. __________________ An invariant mass requires rest energy without a HITCH, which makes Newton's second law as it appears in a nonrelativistic classical mechanics sitch, BIATCH. Well anyways on a good side of the Emmys
Kathy Griffin is hosting the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the same awards show she won her Emmy for Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List Show and said the ''F*** Jesus Speech'' and another great thing is that she is nominated for 2 Emmy Nominations this year. She stated on Larry King that she would sell her mom for another Emmy which she was joking and now her 5th Season just ended after getting her star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame. |
