Default The Academy Awards

So the Oscars were tonight. What did everybody think?

My thoughts:

1) No Country for Old Men swept it. Not surprised. I really need to see that movie.
2) I bet all the other writers in the Best Original Screenplay category were like, I can't believe we lost to the fuckin' stripper! Though I haven't seen Juno yet either, I need to see it.
3) Why the fuck was Miley Cyrus on the post show? I swear, Disney has no shame when it comes to promoting Hannah Montana. And am I the only one who realizes she's really a man?

No Country For Old Men- no surprise. Daniel Day Lewis- no surprise.

Diablo Cody! Soo awesome, not just because I loved "Juno" but she's from around here

Why the hell were Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus, and Cameron Diaz presenters? Ok, one is just a knocked-up actress who makes shitty movies, one is a 15 year old who is better known under and annoying-as-fuck alias, and wtf has Cameron Diaz done in the last two years?

The Oscars get worse every year.

thank you cartman for that completely useful piece of information. Now I can continue living, I was gonna end it all but after reading your post I've decided there is a reason to keep living.

Seriously. I think everyone at this forum would spontaneously fall dead if Cartman wasn't here.

I figured I'd bump this thread up instead of making a new one.

I gotta see Slumdog Millionaire now, especially since it just swept the Oscars.

Other than that, nothing too surprising. It was obvious Slumdog was gonna win Best Picture, especially after it won Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director. It was also obvious Heath Ledger was gonna win for Best Supporting Actor, and it was obvious Wall-E was gonna win for Best Animated Picture (Jack Black may have been on to something).

It was still entertaining though, I guess. I sat through the whole thing. That Beyonce performance, though...

Yeah, there were a lot of good films this year that I haven't seen yet. I usually skip the awards ceremony because its so little content and more special presentations and catty comments on dresses.
