[MADtv] BREAKING NEWS: Mad TV is coming back!!!

Now that we have been enjoying this news, can we have some discussion regarding who came back for this. I'll start out with some surprises I saw here. I'll also express a worry I have.



Surprises

Anjelah Johnson: Sure she was one of the few bright spots in what was the horrible Season 13, and her cutting halfway through the season (especially with Johnny Sanchez still on the show) was terrible, but except for that Bon Qui Qui character she didn't stand out.

Phil LaMarr,: I am amazed they were able to get LaMarr back. I remember when the last few episodes were airing LaMarr did an interview where he bashed the show a bit for not being that good. I'm glad they did get him, because now we will have the reunion of the big Original 3 (him, Nicole Sullivan, and Debra Wilson because they lasted much longer then all the other originals), and he was important to the show. UBS Guy was one of MAD's great characters. Surprised but glad they got him.

Eric Price: Surprised to see Price, but I like it because that season 14 inaugural cast got so screwed over by the cancellation. There was such a bright future with him, Matt Braunger, and Erica Ash.

Bobby Lee: Considering Lee was always threatening to leave in the last few years, I'm surprised they got him. Glad they did though. I never hated Lee like other people did, and considering how long he was on the show, how much he influenced it, and the fact that he was an Asian actor on television when there weren't many of them, he needed to be here. Surprised they couldn't get Johnny Sanchez here too. I thought that with Lee, Sanchez would follow.



Who's Not There

Not a Lot of Originals: Except for Artie Lange, there are no originals here outside of the Original 3. They couldn't get Orlando Jones, Mary Scheer, or Bryan Callen?

Pat Kilbane: Probably the most underrated cast member. So funny and so versatile. Wish he could have come out of the woodwork to make it here.

Andrew Daly: I know he had a short stint, but considering how big he has gotten with shows like Review I'm surprised they didn't extend a branch.

Frank Caliendo: I know that Caliendo has also written off the show in the past, but if they could get LaMarr I'm surprised they couldn't get Caliendo. He hasn't done anything big since he lost that NFL on Fox comedy position a few years ago.

Taran Killam: I have a feeling that they may have called him, but when he went to SNL to get the release for this, they shot it down. I don't think SNL wants to admit that MAD saw something in who is now one of their best cast members right now 10 years earlier.

Josh Myers: The name alone should bring him back for this. Also, Ike is there so why not get him?

Paul Vogt: Another person who didn't really like his time on the show (I felt), but again, LaMarr.

Simon Helberg: He wasn't right for the show, but he got on Big Bang Theory, and MAD really needs to promote anyone they gave a shot on before they hit the big time.

Danielle Gather: She's another one who got a screw job on the show. I mean Nicole Randall Johnson was better (so glad NRJ is getting her due. The fact that she was cut without any real send off was so annoying) but still.

Jordan Peele: Probably the biggest missing name on here. Peele and Keegan-Michael Key are the main reason I feel that this special is happening. Without their association with MAD, I really believe the show would have remained RIP forever. The show owes Key and Peele for keeping the memory of the show alive. I guess we are living in the world now where Key is without Peele.

Frank Caeti: I am sad to not see Caeti on here. Caeti also got a screw job by getting cut in the horrible bleed out to get to season 13. Also, he was so nice to us on the forums. I think he may hold the record for visits. He understood social media before it became the thing to be.

Dan Oster: One of the few bright spots of season 13, I would have liked to see him back.

Season 14 Inaugural Class: They had so much potential, and they got screwed by the stupid cancellation. They deserve some love.



What, Me Worry (Yes)

Not in Picture: The fact that players like Johnson, Key, Lange, Nicole Parker (who I am so excited to see back!), and Aries Spears are not in the picture above gets me scared. I'm worried that they may just be there because they are in some sketches that they are replaying. I hope they are at least in some kind of video message that they sent in. Second best really.

Tvman I love your post!

I'm shocked that a lot of those people didn't come back either, assuming they were asked. But based on people like Eric, Anjelah, and NRJ I'm guessing they sent out a mass availability call.

I've been wondering why some of the listed cast wasn't in that photo..I hope they do something new as well even if it's a taped hello.

Think there will be any new sketches? Or just a random character appearance at the party between old sketches?

Did anyone else know about the mini comic con reunion MadTV had in 2014?!?!
Debra Wilson, Will Sasso, Alex Borstein, Mo Collins, Andrew Bowen (?!?!), Nicole Sullivan, Phil LaMarr, Michael McDonald, Stephanie Weir, Pat Kilbane (?!?!) and Craig Anton.

Def worth the watch surprised and excited to see Andrew and Pat there!

Oh the second one with Nicole and Michael was awesome. Literally was so great. That youtube account has so many great MAD clips. I was also excited when I saw the Keegan Obama tweets one that had the original theme song from seasons 1-12, and not that bastardized one in the last 2 seasons.

Seeing as we are a week out from this, I am wondering if any of you want to do anything special for this? Whether it is a post episode discussion or something like that that we post to youtube or something? Google Hangout is really good for that. I also know of a site called blab, which allows up to 4 people to record a discussion type show, and after you are done recording it sends you a link of the episode via e-mail which you can edit down if needed and post to other places like youtube.
