Default What do you want in #1316?

Well, the season (possibly - hope not) series finale is almost upon us.

What do you want to see in it?

I want an opportunity for each cast member to have some limelight.

The best way to do this (imo) is to use recurring characters - if nothing else, they leave an impression:

Michael - Stuart. I know, i know...but deep down we love him, and the casual audience goes crazy over him...and if we don't see him next ep, then it will be the first season since season 3 not to ahve stuart (and that was before michael joined!)

Bobby - Tank? Bae Sun? I think Bobby deserves a BIG sendoff - even if you don't like him (and i do) he is one of the longest running cast members the show has ever had, and is EXTREMELY popular. He deserves to go out in style

NIcole - a song. That's all i need (preferably while dressed as snow white )

Jordan - another person for whom this is his final ep - screen time with Nicole (his best friend in the cast...maybe a little krumping?)

Keegan - hmmm, don't knwo - he's probably had more screentime than most this season. I honestly can't think of anything. Rudolph Poozler?

OMG!!!!!!!!! I WANT LILLIAN VERNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again - otherwise first since season 8 not to have one.....and it is PERFECT for the stage!

Crista - Just a static image of her smiling into the camera ..kidding - luann Lockhart! (again, perfect for the stage) or wendy walker...ANYTHING, she'll be good in anything

Arden - red carpet? does she actually do anyhting else?

Johnny - tonsilitus (LOL) ...just repeat last eps activity

Daheli - some screen time. She's great

Dan - he's already a FANTASTIC cast member - i'd LOVE to see his american jerk character...please, anyhting other than playing 'host'

I want stuart and lilian verner, and proper goodbyes to bobby and jordan (if they leave)

What do other people want? ...and try to ome up with ideas, rather than just rubbishing mine, thanks

To recap, the finale should include Crista in something extremely skimpy, the debut of the Michelle Dessler impression she's surely been working on for me, one last Sesame Street, an appearance by Luann, Wendy, or Nippy (with the original belly-shirt costume, please and thanks), proper cast utilization, limited screen-time for Bobby, zero filler, and an entire hour of sketches worth 3.5 stars or more. Make it so, folks!

[I have a terrible feeling, though, it'll end up being more along the lines of Bobby in something extremely skimpy from beginning to end, the debut of Bobby's latest and greatest character that he'll be returning to reprise each week next season, one last Sesame Street with Pongo playing the girl, appearances by Bae Sung, Tank, Johnny Gan, Dr. Poon, Average Asian, *and* Blind Kung Fu Master, 40 minutes of screen-time for Bobby, 40 seconds for the others combined, and an entire hour of sketches worth 0.5 stars or less. ]

He did, and she's never been the same since.

Seriously, though, I can deal with Bobby getting the send-off he deserves, but it seems like almost a foregone conclusion that he and his characters will absolutely *dominate* this year's finale, and like I mentioned in my #1315 review, because this could very well be the last episode of MADtv EVER, that's just plain sacrilege. Had he chosen to leave mid-season instead, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

but had he left mid season, he wouldnt' have had any send off at all...cos of the strike

that's what happened with Maya Rudolph on SNL - she left midseason, and so got no send off.

Not good.

---

I've thought of one other thing i'd like to see: a sketch with every cast member in it together. I can't even recall this happening before, but i think it would be a wonderful thing to do. THey do it on SNL sometimes, particularly season finales, and it would be a great final sketch, imo.

Obviously Bobby is gonna get a lot of screen time, since this is his last episode.

Jordan, Keegan, and Nicole are apparently getting extended contracts for part of next season (provided the show makes it to next season, yadda yadda yadda), so they probably won't be getting a send-off (which is a good thing. I don't think they can handle losing that many people at this point).

Oh, and Jordan would be Krumping with Crista, not Nicole.

I just hope it's really good.

Second the recurring characters idea. One reason it has not felt like MadTV this season is an almost completely lack of recurring characters. This was one reason I was glad to see Johnny Gan. At least he was some inkling of past years.

I'm surprised there was no Stuart in the 300th episode (when Mo was there), so I doubt we'll see one here... but really, Mad. I'd actually love to see Nacho Hernandez again, if Johnny can think of something different situation-wise...

Noodles and Nippy would be fantastic. I would love Luann Lockhart and Wendy Walker, too. Heck make it all Crista. She's been the only constant funny this season.

I want a real Coach Hines, not the stage crap. If they would do Coach Hines on a set like with Johnny Gan and Nacho last week, it would be great. I think last week proved that reception is a lot better when the skit is really live.

Stuart needs to appear! He has every season at least once since season 4.

Also Disney Girl would be a nice surprise or Wendy Walker.

Actually I want all three and a new Tori song wouldn't be bad either!

Quality one-offs and a great sendoff for mah B00by, preferably with a starring role or two in the aforementioned one-offs. (I'll take those over Bae Sung, Tank, etc.) FYI, "MADtv," one-off remotes DO NOT COUNT! Sketches -- remember those? Study up on Seasons 1 and 2, even S12, if you need a refresher course.

Other than that, as long as I don't have to suffer through yet another lame Nicole Parker video parody (I didn't stutter ), KrumpinKrafts, or an Arden Myrin red carpet "comedy" routine about her love life (or for that matter any Arden at all ), I'll try not to bitch and moan too much.

I'd like to see Daheli's character, RayRay make its debut.

I'd also like for it to be the last time we have to see the Music Box Theater in its current (shitty) incarnation. Next season, I want them to utilise the space wisely. If they have to use a shitty theater like this, at least make it so they can use decent props on the stage in order to make convincing settings for their sketches. WORST STAGE EVER!

Well, not all of her video parodies are lame, but I think a lot of them are. By and large, they're my least favorite sketches by Nicole Parker. Sawree.

They need to do another 3 Minute Meal sketch; in fact has Crista done any of her characters this season?

And what about Jorge, Keegan's Hispanic character that first appeared in S9 in "Taco Hell." Let's not forget that Nicole and Jordan haven't really showcased their characters that much. Disney Girl would be nice--hell if you have the voice, flaunt it.

Nicole Sullivan is amazing, and prob. my favorite cast member ever, so I'll agree with you there....but I have not seen one Nicole Parker music video parody that has been bad.....most are amazing.......I just needed to add my two cents!

If we had a "Member of the Year" award around here, the two of you would be in strong, strong contention for it.

Heh, not that you're biased or anything.

To clarify, I like, even love, Nikki-Poo Parker in most of what she does. Typically, I love her impressions, and the LaMontroses are among my top two or three current recurring characters on the show. I also submit once again that she normally knocks one-offs right outta the proverbial Astrodome. I've even gone so far as to compare her acting style with that of another Nicole -- and it ain't NRJ, on the very-off-chance that you're wondering. Regardless of how you feel about Sully, the fact that I'm quite willing to rank N.P. up there with my favorite cast member of all time should be more than enough evidence that I do think highly of her. With some noteworthy exceptions, however -- the Barack/Hilary sketch from this season, the S11 James Blunt parody, "Super Slut," and a few others -- I don't normally care for her video parodies, most of which are based on very obvious jokes and therefore don't really do her justice. In a way, that opinion can also be perceived as somewhat of a compliment in that I believe Nicole capable of much better. The fault of most "MADtv" video parodies that fail usually lies within the concept and/or writing, not the performance. Have I now absolved myself to everyone's satisfaction? While I'm not a Nicole Parker fanboi, I do like her a lot, just not most of her video parodies, 'kay? Thank you and good night.

(No, that didn't seem defiant at all, mizz. )

Biased? What could you possibly mean by that? Is it so unreasonable that I might've been taken aback by the standout quality of their prose and their clearly fair and balanced takes on the situa--okay, not even *I'm* buying this one.

Chalk up another "Member of the Year" candidate!

[Even though you're just trying to get on the short-list for a non-existent award and have absolutely no sexual stake in the matter. ]

You're right... But seriously, and this going back onto the main topic, it would be nice to see something from Crista, like one of her characters that's been MIA for 12 episodes literally.
