Biography:
For Erica Ash, an actress wasn't the path she was originally taking. After being born in Florida, and traveling around the world due to her parent’s military status, Erica decided that she was going to go to med school, and try to become a doctor. That all changed when she moved to Japan, still looking for her place.

In Japan she found a job as a backup singer that she claimed she "fell into". This began her spark in acting. For the next 3 years she developed her craft by learning singing, and dancing. To help pay her bills, she also strutted the runways of Japan as a model.

With singing and dancing on her resume, Erica wanted to make herself a triple threat, and give acting a try, and per her traveling lifestyle decided to pick up her stuff, and move to New York. In New York, Erica was able to find steady work in the tough world of Broadway Theatre. Her first role was as a schoolgirl in the play Top Secret Personal Beeswax. After this, the roles started to roll in, as she got small roles in shows like East Side Story: Kosher Brew, and The A-Train Plays, and even lead roles in plays like Lady Of Copper, and Barnstormer.

In February of 2006, Erica was blitz with multiple job opportunities in Broadway shows like the Colour Purple, the traveling Disney show The Lion King, and a job in Germany. Erica is a very religious person, so after consulting God, Erica took the role as the understudy in The Lion King, and the Germany job due to the fact that it was only 2 weeks long.

After returning from the job in Germany, Erica was walking the streets of New York when she ran into this audition for an unnamed comedy show. Even though Erica had a steady job with the Lion King, she still auditioned for the role. A week later, she was called back for a second test auditioned and was given a spot on the show. This show was The Big Gay Sketch Show. For the next few months, Erica split her time between the first season of the sketch show and the Lion King. For Erica, life couldn't get any better. That's when she got the call.

A member of the casting team for MADtv was a big fan of Erica and after cast member Nicole Randall Johnson was let go, they needed to find a new black female cast member. The person suggested her, and she was asked to audition, but with The Big Gay Sketch Show getting picked up for a second season, and the job in The Lion King, Erica didn't want to rock the career boat, and respectfully declined. A year later, MADtv came calling to Erica again. Erica took this as a sign, and moved to Los Angeles to become the newest feature player on MADtv.

With the success she found in Japan, on Broadway, and now in sketch comedy, Erica has had little struggle in the entertainment world. With MADtv now added to her already packed resume, Erica star is certainly rising, and it will only go higher with her MADtv status.

"Erica Ash was raised internationally as a child of military parents and calls Atlanta, Georgia her home. From the clips I've seen of her from the Big Gay Sketch Show, I can say 3 things about her.

1) Her Naomi Campbell impression is hilarious.

2) Her character work shows some range, although they are all quite repetitive characters (Latanya, the abusive fitness instructor, Grandma Bell, the black lesbian civil rights activist and Rapper Lil Dyke). Despite the fact that its crude and would never ever make it onto MADtv, the Grandma Bell character is quite good. Cant say the same for the other two though.

3) She's loud. Quite loud.

OMG! I was watching Gandma Bell and she is hilarious, but my jaw just about dropped to the floor when I heard some of the things that came out of her mouth!

Bon Qui Qui? That was hilarious. I meant like in the Women's Murder Club parody. I guess that isn't really Anjelah's fault. The writers had a chance to make her funny, and it wasn't, at all.
