The Die-Nasty bio for Ron that talks about his girlfriend Fi-Fi is pretty old (like from 2000)... So it's possible that they broke up. Or maybe he discovered that he's gay (which I really hope is not the case).

Hey, I'm MORE than happy to hear Ron's not gay, and even more happy to hear he might be single...

I swear I read somewhere that's he's 28, but u guys are saying he's only 26? That would be closer to my age, lol.

I've looked on the MAD TV site, but I the only email I found was a general one, not anything for the individual actors. I'd love to write to him and tell him that THIS Clay Aiken fan is very impressed with his impersonation!!

well, to be honest, I simply was curious. I wouldn't judge him either way.
AND by the way Mad Dog, as a TRUE Clay AIken fan I have had that fight (about whether it's anyone's business) MANY a time with people. I can't STAND when people pick on clay b/c THEY think he's gay...who really freakin' cares?? I love him no matter what! Now, yes Ron plays clay as gay....but it's not the same as what I'm talking about. He doesn't call him profanities(sp?) and degrade all the clay fans out there. but that's a whole other story....
My bestest guy-friend who almost became my roomate the year is gay and I love him more b/c of it. He has taught me not to judge and to appreciate people for who they are.

No, it's not our business...but to me it helps me understand Ron better as an actor.

How tall is Ron? I know that's a stupid question, but around Micheal and Ike everyone looks like a freakin' midget! But I know he's taller than Stephanie. The only reason I'm interested is for a clay vs. clay comparision.

I think it's safe to say Clay is gay. Most of the time, if there is a male heart throb that acts sorta gay and is REALLY questionable, they are gay. That's just from my experience.

well, I'm going on the assumption that u guys aren't clay fans.
I've actaully been within a few inches of him, about a month ago at a concert (my second) and throughout the concert he'll stop and talk to the audience. Just me, but I highly doubt he is. It's hard to explain if you don't keep up with everything he does and don't watch him on TV all the time or read all the interviews as I used to.
Needless to say, give it up. I don't care one way or the other.
Ron plays Clay as gay b/c it makes it fun. Clay has some VERY afeminate qualities and Ron's just playing up on them. That doesn't bother me on bit. If you can't laugh at ur own faults then who can u laugh at right?

I loved how he said somewhere he wants to have clay in a dress by the end of the season! lol!!!

According to Google, Ron Pederson might be a weatherman, a marathon runner, a wrestler, a new Dad, a sailor, a crown prosecutor or some kind of a space engineer. So who are you, Ron Pederson?

"I’m the guy from MADTV! And also a space engineer," says Pederson.

Not to mention the lead in Stewart Lemoine’s latest opus, The Margin of the Sky–"It’s about a screenwriter trying to write for a soap opera star and his soon-to-be ex brother-in-law so he has to be nice to him"–an Edmontonian-in-Hollywood story that echoes E-town’s collective brushes with the world’s second-largest entertainment capital.

But Pederson’s Hollywood credentials and alleged expertise in aeronautics only begin to describe what young Ron is capable of: a longtime veteran of the Die-Nasty improvised soap opera, he’s also a Sterling-award-winning dramatic actor (for last year’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane).

Nevertheless, he seems a little surprised at his recent success.

"It was really positive, especially the second half. It was terrific. You spend five episodes trying to prove yourself and it took me a while to figure out how it works, meeting the writers. I went home for Christmas and after that they asked me back."

Figuring out how it works? Sounds simple enough. But listen to this grueling schedule:

"There’s a staff of writers and we read 30 sketches on Monday. Those get whittled down to eight–the producers do that on Saturday–and the rehearsals start on Tuesday. So we’re working on two episodes at a time.

"As an actor it helps if you’re pitching ideas to the writers. That’s really fun for me, and I was always walking around with a notebook."

His Cinderella story is a nice payoff for the kind of exhausting, only sometimes rewarded work that’s expected out of cultural workers.

"Last February I was doing Shakespeare’s R&J and I was just beat. I was supposed to do another play, but then Joe Flaherty phoned to tell me he was starting a soap in LA. I dropped out of the play and sold my car."

The rest is a Hollywood cliché. Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara showed up one night, and Pederson made an impression. Then, as he explains it, "I made them laugh."

"Martin Short really liked me, and I got a phone call from Second City in Toronto. Two hours later, I got a call from MADTV saying they wanted me to audition on Monday, and this was on Friday."

It seems fitting that it was Martin Short who took him under wing. Pederson, as a type, is the Intense Little Guy–it was like Short was naming a successor.

"Yes, we are ‘The Imp.’ I see that, and I certainly was a huge fan. The Three Amigos, SCTV. I love that ****. I dunno if he has a five year plan for me; I never got to thank him in person."

It seems to be a full turn in the cycle of good luck, since so much depended upon the good fortunes of others, like–surprise, surprise– Stewart Lemoine.

"Yeah, we all had a Hollywood experience. Joe Flaherty has a friend, Kathleen Robertson. He played her dad on Maniac Mansion."

That would be the Kathleen Robertson who played crazy Clare on Beverly Hills 90210.

"[Flaherty] took Stewart’s plays down to her, ’cause she wanted a writer to adapt a book, The Body of a Girl or something like that. So they flew him down and he had some meetings."

"Joe built the bridge; he’s the Hollywood guy."

And so the idea began to percolate, with subsequent southbound trips adding layers of detail to the parallel universe of the play.

"And we went down, all of us from the soaps, for FOX last year. There are a lot of tidbits, and some of them are true, like we did go drink margaritas on the patio in Santa Monica."

But like anyone talented with any amount of humility, he credits luck and community as much as his own ability. After all, if it can happen to him, why not others?

"But it’s surprising that it doesn’t happen more often. We are [in Edmonton], if not on par with everything I’ve seen everywhere, it’s better. I think it’s because people are really doing stuff, we’re not showcasing ourselves. We really care. Um, is that cheesy?"

Heck, no. There’s no shame in loving where you’re from. But his down-home sense of perspective isn’t exactly the Less Than Zero debauchery ’n’ ennui outcome that one might expect of a young man making it in the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles. Has it changed our boy?

"It hasn’t. Or only in positive ways. People wonder why I’m not still out there with my 8 X 10s and my–I don’t even know what they’re called–my reel? That was something I would never do."

He’ll find out June 1 whether the producers want him back for another season. He feels good about his chances and would be happy to return for another year, but has a healthy amount of perspective on it all.

"The stakes weren’t that high, so it still felt like a holiday. That’s why, I think, it worked."

Nice bit I had a chance to pick up a copy of SEE mag when this story came out. But did you notice they spelled Ron's last name wrong on the cover
