LoL...Yeah..that was Simon alright. I laugh everytime I see him though cause I think of that 7th Heaven sketch they had where Simon was playing the youngest girl and Mike kept slapping him...omg..lmao!!!

"The Architect Of Destiny"

"The Architect of Destiny," presented by Inkwell Theater at the Zephyr Theatre, 7458 Melrose Ave., Hollywood. Thu.-Sat. 8 p.m., Sun. 2 p.m. Oct. 8-Nov. 14. $20. (310) 551-0918.

Mark (a very amiable Simon Helberg) is a pathetic, twentysomething nebbish who thinks his life is a mess. He seeks psychological help, only to find that his shrink (a Kinsey-esque Nick Ullett) is nuts, as are his parents: Mom (Becky Bonar, playing appropriately ditsy) is a walking drug emporium, and Dad (Aaron Lustig as a good-natured go-along) is in his Oscar Wilde period. Also in Mark's life is an unwanted blind date, a pushy, pathological liar with a dozen different names (Cori Clark Nelson). He can't seem to get rid of her. The doctor insists that Mark accept that he was abused as a child and that he is gay, neither of which is true. The parents concur with the doctor so they can have something to put in their family holiday newsletter. Even suicide isn't an option for our boy, as Death (Anthony Cistaro) is booked up at the moment.

Michael Gianakos' script tries to be a zany, screwball comedy with kooky characters and rompy high jinks; however, it's little more than a funny comedy sketch stretched into two acts. Although there is a potpourri of mix-and-match styles, underneath it is good writing. Using the baby-bathwater theory, judicial clipping, and a lot of it, would be beneficial. The cast is uniformly competent, but director Mark L. Taylor's quick and quirky staging makes the performances appear rushed and frenzied. Rushed and frenzied works for skits, but an entire stage play needs a touch of variety in tempo. Everyone involved -- writer, director, and players -- seems to be pushing much too hard to make the comedy work. The pacing is unrelentingly breathless onstage and overwhelms the audience, which is unwilling to work so hard. Nathan Matheny's lighting design illuminates his terrific sets of distorted straight lines: windows, furniture, etc.

The guy in the Mastercard commercial is not Michael, it's Simon.

I thought so, too. The MasterCard TV spot is titled "Career Path", originally airing January 10, 2005, and produced by Zoic Studios.

To clear up the issue, I emailed the Senior Producer of Commercials, Leighton Greer. He gave me this response:

I've been seeing Simon alot on that Dominos Pizza commerical for their 555 deal. I always wished he would make the regular Mad Tv cast, even for just one season, but he left as a featuring half way through season eight.
