MADtv Inspires CHiPs Casting
Los Angeles, CA (AHN) - “That '70s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama has been cast to play California Highway Patrol officer Frank Poncherello (a.k.a. "Ponch") in the upcoming big-screen remake of the CHiPs TV series.
Warner Bros. casting “Fez” plays into the tongue-in-cheek tone of the redo. Valderrama hinted at the dream role when he hosted MadTV and did a CHiPs comedy sketch. Valderrama’s role as “Ponch“ follows in the footsteps Erik Estrada made famous and made him sex symbol from in the late seventies and early eighties. CHiPs, the popular show about California Highway Patrol officers Ponch and Jon, played by Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox respective, ran from 1977 to 1983. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the rights to the show to add to its long list of TV-turned-movies. It also produced Starsky and Hutch and The Dukes of Hazzard. __________________ What happened to Andrae?

Ah, just what the American moviegoer needs, another remake

The American movie companies shouldn't be complaining about the box office slump (if they still are, I don't know). I would like to sit in on a board meeting with them and see how they plan on recovering from the slump. I would like to find out which movie company executive is telling his bosses that American moviegoers need 15 remakes of crappy TV shows a year and I would like to punch him in the throat. I'm patiently awaiting Facts of Life: Reloaded.
