[MADtv] Going to a Taping

I have a few questions.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but is mad taped every other Friday in front of an autience, and then its edited, and put into a show thats NOT live?

The ticket website to view a taping says 16+. Do they enforce this?

Please share your experience going to a taping, I'm going to CA in August, which is when they probally start taping. I'm DYING to see it, but I'm "too young" could someone explain this (the age thing) to me?

the 16+ thing isn't really enforced.....its just sort of a guideline.


MAD tapes every week. One week is in front of a live audience and the next week is not so that they can do things which require lots of editing and what not, and those sketches are then shown to teh live audience and their laughter is recorded and thats what you sometimes get in episodes.

I did some searching for you, and I found a thread called Live Taping Experiences.

At the beginning of the season, they do two or three taping weeks in a row. They begin filming in front of an audience the first week or two of September. The off-weeks are either used for rehearsal, readings, or pre-tapes. Editing is usually happening throughout all of this behind the scenes, but the turnaround for different sketches depends. They could film one sketch on a Friday night and it may not air for three months, but sometimes a sketch they film on Friday airs the next night (on Saturday).
