Uh... I'm not too sure about this one. Leave the political satire to SNL, MADtv. Though I guess this makes sense since October 4 is the last day to register to vote.

And how is there an episode in October anyway? That's when baseball playoffs start.

I don't like this idea for the same reason as MADfan2004. It seems to SNL mostly because this is what SNL will be doing every Thursday this October (it will be 90 minutes of Weekend Update, which is already harder to get through 10 minutes of). And what I like about MADtv is that they are not so political. They are more character, and impression oriented. Now they are getting more political, and I don't like it.

As for MADfan2004 other comment, baseball playoffs don't start till the 7th.
I also don't like how fast this season is going. I mean we only have a 14 episode and by this point we would have gone past 4 of them. It worries me if we are only having half a season, or if we are having a schedule similar to last season strike season. 4 new episodes break, 5 episodes break, 5 episodes break in some order. I am also starting to think that MAD may have more than 14 episode this season. I mean the only source that I have been able to find of this is from mizzimad's posts, and remember he said that Matt was a repertory player when he wasn't, so who knows, maybe he might be wrong about this?

Well, I just hope to see how Nicole and the rest of the cast pulls this one off.

Though I must say, I never really liked MADtv's politically-themed skits. No idea why, but I think if MADtv continues on, it might give the impression that they are following SNL.

THey do that every Thursday!?!? I didn't know that. Weekend Update is amazing, I don't understand how 10 min can be to hard to get through, I love weekend update! Although Amy is leaving SNL after the elections

It says returning favourites of presidents, scandals, and senators. Does that mean that we may see some old cast members return in political roles. Could we see Michael McDonald's John Kerry, Will Sasso's Bill Clinton, or in an extremely rare case Frank Caliendo's George W. Bush again?

you will possibly see all of those impressions, however none of them will be new. Think MADtv circa episodes 1301-1304. I hate to be a pessimist, but it will likely be a showcase of the best of political sketches from seasons 13, possibly 12 if we're lucky, and probably some repeated stuff from the beginning of season 14. If I had to fathom a guess, I would say we'll be seeing some of these sketches:

- Under Barack Obama
- Deomcratic Woman of the Year Award
- DPTTM: Obama and Hilary
- Governor Castel Resigns (or whatever the hell that was)
- Probably at least 1 sketch with Frank Caliendo as Bush.
- So You Think You Can Dance? Presidential Edition.

I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but I don't have high hopes.

So by what you're saying, is that MAD is wasting an episode on another stupid review show possibly. All I can say to that is a disappointed wow. But then again, it does mention Nicole playing Sarah Palin, and she hasn't played her before so...

To all those who said "I'd rather see an encore than MADtv Extras," bingo. here it is. There will be new stuff, but honestly, this is a waste of an episode of a VERY. SHORT. SEASON.

Come on, Mad. Get some characters going. There have been literally no new characters since season 12, save for Nacho Hernandez. BRING HIM BACK, and give the newbies a chance to show their characters. Your political stuff has never been as funny as your other stuff and frankly, it's usually crap.

I understand that MADtv is trying to keep up with the pace of the Presidential Elections, but devoting a whole episode to it when most of it isn't new is really not a good idea.

As long as they show that Michael/Ron debate sketch, I'll be happy. That was one of my favorite sketches back when I first watched MADtv. Although I do expect a lot of Season 11-13 sketches, with a few Kim Jong Il moments stuck in there. I'd want some I'm Sorry Mrs. Jackson as well... but Season 14 viewers can't be choosers.

I hope its more of a half and half episode with half new stuff mixed in with encore sketches rather than all old stuff.

they seem to be not stretching this season out very well for one that's going to have only 14 episodes.

WAIT... if she's "Debuting" her Sarah P impression here, why is it supposedly in 1403?

The show switches sketches around and around, you never know.

I caught the promo. I saw a new sketch with the Obamas and McCains. Pictures can be found here. I saw "Under Barack Obama," something with Mo as Barbara Bush [She was excersizing (I cant think of the sketch right off the top of my head)], and I saw Frank Caliendo as Bush. Sorry I can't think of what the sketches were called or whatever. It was almost midnight, and I got a whopping 2 hours of sleep the night before. It looks good. Although, I'm an optimist when it come to MAD.

I said it before and I'll say it again: A 'Best Of' episode in a 14 episode Season is NOT good.

Unless they're not counting it in their 14 episode total. This is probably how they're going to have a full season- stretch out the 14 epsidoes and put a bunch of best of's inbetween. Last year they said there was going to be 18 episodes but they didnt count those four best of's in September
