[MADtv] Marvin Tikvah's Star Search

This last Saturday on episode #1107 there was a sketch titled "Marvin Tikkvah's Search for a Star" where Michael McDonald playing Marvin Tikvah invited audience members to come up on stage for an interview to possibly be a star on MADtv. He didn't find what he was looking for and invited the home audience to send in audition tapes. Here's the "full" scoop from the MADtv Informer...

Tikkvah is on the hunt for a star. After a failed attempt at finding someone in the MADtv studio audience, Marvin has decided to search for star material amongst our viewers.

Send in a DVD or VHS video of yourself telling (or showing) Marvin why you think you could be a star. And make sure you keep it under a minute!

As you may recall, there was another contest for MADtv fans in which the winners appeared in a MADtv sketch in episode #318. I don't know if this will be the same type deal where the winner(s) will appear in a sketch, but it's something worth trying if you're a die hard fan. Now get those camcorders out and go break a leg!

No clue but even when they said look out for the winners in the sketch, I didn't ever notice them at all. I thought the whole thing was a joke.

You probably didn't see that sketch then. There were 6 winners in the sketch I believe and only one castmember (Will Sasso). It would have been impossible to miss them.

Was that real? I saw it in reruns yesterday.

Yeah, I saw that rerun too. I think the guy in the audition tape was real, and the guy who came on the show was an actor.

It's funny that this Martin Tikvah thing happens now, because I just was thinking it would be cool if they had a contest where the winner would get a 4-episode contract as a featured player and the oppurtunity to extend it, and people could vote for the favorite online or something. I think it would be cool. But that's just me...
