Default I tell you all about the first two episodes of mad tv, season 13

I actually didn't get tickets to the show, my brother did. But he had to work. So I went alone.

How lucky for me that the new venue, "Henry Fonda Theater" is right next to a metro rail station in hollywood so i barely had to walk to get there. I don't have a car. Boo hoo. But enough about me.

I waited outside with other audiance members in a giant line for an hour or two before being let into the theatre only after the VIP people were let in.

The vip section is the ground level of the audiance. These people get to sit at tables like a club type atmosphere. The non VIP people are forced to sit in the balcony, where the view is not so great, but ok. There are several CASH ONLY bars where they expect us audience members to get filthy drunk and therefore ready to laugh alot before the show begins.

The balcony holds about 100-200 people while the ground level holds about another 50 - 100.

the theatre itself is kindof rundown, but it has an inviting type feel to it. It's an old place, but has fixed up for mad tv with a cool stage and giant screen with a few tiny screens at the bottom of the giant one.

Now, let me tell you. Cast member walk around the venue before, during and after the show! Mostly Bobby Lee. Bobby Lee is really a man of the people. He is so friendly with the fans. Probobly Arden or Keegan is the second most friendly. Michael was not friendly to me. I said hi to michael in a hallway and he just strutted on past me with his giant dark glasses on, talking to some agents or assistants maybe. Arden is very flirty and girly all the time.

I should also mention that every one always chants that michael should do an impression of stuart but he seems very annoyed at this. I don't think he enjoys doing stuart any more than he has to.

Now I think that's all I should say about the pre show events. Except I know you're all waiting to hear about how I met Crista. What an event all in itself.

At first, I saw her in a hallway, much like I saw Michael, but I was so shy and nervous and paralyzed just standing there, she swooshed away before I could hardly even realize what was happening. I became sad thinking that was my last chance to ever meet her, but I quickly cheered up remembering why I was there, to see the premier of mad tv!

So I sat in my seat there in the balcony and this guy came out... like a hype man type guy by the name of "cory". he procedes to try to exite the crowd by talking up the show, throwing prizes like shirts, hats and dvds into the croud. He is alot like ryan seacrest. He is a red sox fan from the north east. I'm pretty sure he is not part of the tv show, but he may work for the theatre or perhaps the show itself in some strange capacity? He tells us the audiance like when to clap, when we're coming back and from commercials and stuff like that.

I think the opening skit was all on the screen with bobby lee's 24. Bobby was shown sleeping in a few odd positions and then gets awoken up by some cholo type mexicans to do stand up comedy with the newest cast member johnny sanchez.

no no wait the opening skit was actually nicole parker crashing her car into keegans car as a drunken britney spears. then she stumbled on stage threw the lobby, popping fake oxys to much cheering and danced around all slutty and funny while mocking britney with her parody lyrics.

there was also the music video of sad fitty cent with jordan peele mocking fitty for not selling as many albums as he said he would

there was another skit where arden takes home a halo video game charecter to her parents as her boyfriend. michael and crista are the parents. the big joke at the end is the uptight father michael is unable to accept her new boyfriend not because he's a halo guy, but because he's jewish

then there was this sketch of arden and jordan sortof like acsess hollywood type of show where they basically talked about the sexiest stars of today except the joke was they were talkingabout old and ugly hollywood actors like joy beyhar and bruce valanche

there was a part where johnny sanchez came out and did live stand up comedy for a few minutes. he told a few good jokes. like one about how when he was a kid, he never had pegs on his bike tire axels so his feet got hurt whenever he fell off the bike riding it and his foot got caught in the spokes. He also told a joke about how he IS mexican but he looks indian.

Johnny also did an impression of what I suppose was a wise old black guy.

(I'm trying to tell you the stuff with out ruining all the laughs here, people)

So then afterwards when all that plus probobly another skit or two that im forgetting had happened, the show was over.

And I made my way down to the lobby to leave, still sad that I hadn't met Crista. And I saw Bobby Lee mingling with the crowd downstairs and so I said hello. And I started to wait around for the line to the bathroom but that slowly became me waiting for Crista to hopefully come out. Surprise surprise, I met Keegan in the bathroom haha. I told him I wanted to meet Crista and im her fan but I'm shy! And he was so nice, he went backstage someplace and found her and she surprised me from coming around this corner and giving me a giant hug. And then I was like twice as shy and I stammered out how I was her fan and I wished I had brought her copy of epic movie for her to sign but I didn't think I was going to get the chance to meet her . And how she is so funny and sad in everything she does like hope is emo and the 2 minute meals ect . And what my name was and how I was glad to meet her at least once before I ship out on december 4th (because I'm the navy, holla) and I spoke so fast and was so nervous, I dunno if I left a lsting impression. and she told me her assistant runs her myspace which is why she never read any of my messeges. And now looking back on it, I maybe could have spoke to her longer but i don't know why I just went in for another hug and said goodbye. I tried to say thanks to keegan for introducing me to her, but he was busy talking to another group of fans so I just walked out of there to the metro station listening to my ipod and feeling sooo good. What a wonderful day, I know you're all jealous of me

they told us this episode will air i think on novemeber 3rd. So maybe you will see me on tv? hm haha

I hope you all love me for this disclosure

I will post about the second show in the very next post as soon as i get around to it

i will also answer any questions you may have about my experiance or the show itself

So there's only about 6 sketches? :/ None of them sound particularly funny, either. -_-

Glad you had fun though!

AwYeahCrumpin Thanks so much for the summary and I'm very happy for you that you got to met Crista LOL. Did you see any of the featured players. What about Daheli Hall?

I am very excited for the premere, but from AwYeahCrumpin's description MADtv seems really different now.... Only 8 sketches? What happened to season 12's method of having many good quality sketches in one episode?

Thanks again AwYeahCrumpin

for the last time i probobly forgot a couple sketches. maybe i forgot more than 2?

daheli hall was completely missing in action. every show, they introduce a new person. like duing show #2, they introduced anjelah jonhsen

the third show will likely introduce some one else like dan oster.

im about to write up my experiance of episode #2

Overall though, did you think the episode was funny? Average? Below average?

Oh okay I understand, YAY! Anjelah Johnson! You should tell me if think she is funny in your second episode summary, I have faith in her but I still gotta know LOL!

EDIT:

Ya what Rurry said did you think it was a good premire? Because it sounds like some average sketches...

It doesn't sound that funny - I mean, I've seen the Sad Fitty Cent video; I've seen that Britney Spears opening... 24 with Bobby Lee is just that...Really, I must say that I'm worried about this premiere. MadTV can't just change its identity in Season 13, after 12 seasons of a successful recipe.

so episode two took place just last night!

i showed up a little bit earlier than usual to get ahead in the line. this time i made sure to bring my copy of epic movie. perhpas because im an idiot, i was so exited for the possibility of seeing crista again. i thought about her alot in the few days that took place between the first show and the second one. i was hoping she would sign my dvd for me.

let me preface this by saying i had messeged bobby lee on myspace a few times and he had told me crista was SINGLE. So perhaps foolishly and stupidly i began to think that maybe she would want to date me? Because I'm such a fan and a younger some what good looking guy serving our country in the world's finest navy... lol what a loser i am...

anyway, security was a bit tighter than it was during the first show. I think the mad tv people hired a new group of gaurds maybe because these guys were almost mean about keeping us regular people seperated from the vip types.

we waited alot longer outside this time, appearantly there were some technical difficulties or something that slowed the show down.

I got to see johnny sanchez before the show happend, but nobody else this time. i waved to him to say hi, but i don't think he understood that people recognized who he was yet. i think the security was gaurding the cast a little bit more.

the opening sketch had jordan, michael, arden, keegan and nicole (and maybe johnny i forget) doing improv for a few minutes. i don't want to give anything away about this, but i didn't find it that funny.

keegan then did the introduction and crista interupted him looking gory and bloody and distraught. she had appearantly slayed a few pre teen girls in a fight for some hannah montana tickets. Crista obviously won and she has taken two girl ears as a souvineer of her victory in the battle. then a little girl came on stage from the audiance with a medevil sword and threatend crista to give her the tickets but crista distracted her by pointing no nothing and claiming she saw hannah montana, then grabed her sword and chased her off. crista looked so good in her skirt with fake little girl blood all over her, let me tell you. haha

some where along the line they took some time to introduce anjela johnson. she is a latina, but shehas a white sounding last name. she worked that into her stand up which she did for a few minutes like johnny had done during the first show. i honestly didn't find her too funny to be honest with you gang. but she is cute. not nearly as cute as crista.

the guest star was joey fatone. joey had a sketch in one of the bars with nicole and jordan i think it was jordan it could have been keegan i foget.

the best sketch of the night by far was coach hines live doing a mock post game press conference to us the crowd as though we were memebers of the press. I don't want to give away much about this one because it was obviously the funniest part of the show. but i will say that bobby was yaminashi as a school reporter and johnny was also a school reporter. and jordan was a cheerleader. ok that's enough. coach hines is so brilliant. he embodys so much of america with his old jock, high pants routine. i love it.

crista had a skit as the lesbionic woman. she got in an accident and to save her life, her husband and doctor, michael mcdonald, rebuilt her as a lesbian and hilarity ensues. well honestly, this skit was just ok to me.

and bobby and johnny have a reacurring skit about doing comedy around the midwest in a big rv. this was another highlight for me. so i won't give away much about the jokes. but i think they will revisit this each week with j and b in a new city doing stand up and general hi jinx.

then there was also a fake commercial for a pancake house that was played three different times to represent the asian, hispanic and black stereotypes of what might entice a race to buy pancakes i guess. the asian version was ofcoursed introduced by bobby lee, the black version introduced by jordan and the hispanic version introduced by johnny.

the asian commerical was alot like the fluffy jump spoon band's music

the black version sadly had a sort of gangsta rap type theme

the hispanic version had a sort of cholo type theme to it

hilarious? perhaps, perhaps. I didn't think so.

it's also worth mentioning that that cory guy had basically the exact same routine during the commerical breaks. pathetic. haha, nah cory is ok. lol

and also there was a music video mocking the fiest girl's ipod commercial where nicole sang about how the ipods are too expenisive and they always change the product too often in an attempt to sell more units

people chanted for michael to do stuart again some more, actually alot and he tried his best to ignore them.

so after the show, the bar is open again, but i chose to wait in the same place as i first met crista with my mind going crazy inside my head. I got to meet arden this time. she didn't seem too flattered when i asked her if she had seen crista around. some other fan used my pen to get arden's autograph. arden told me she hadn't seen crista since the show ended. and she acts so girly, i can't even tell you. she is fun tho. i began to worry.

i waited.

i waited awhile, gang

a while.

eventually some guy who looked like a writer recognized me i have no clue how and said he would go look for crista for me and tell her that a fan wanted her autograph.

things were really closing up, the stage crew were taking down the stage and closing the place up. most people had left. the souvineer table guys were packing up their memorobiala stuff they were selling and leaving

eventually the writer guy came back and told me crista was not anywhere to be found. dang. i told him im shipping out soon and he said theres plenty of showings to attendto try to get her autograph before i leave. i was sad. he told me he was not at all a writer, but just some one who "helps out" with the show.

so i began to leave when i notice a stack of mad tv hats that the souvineer people had forgeten to pack up when they were leaving. i picked up the stack of about 6 or 7 hats and slowly sadly trudged my sorry ass back to the metro station only a few bloclks away, saddened that crista must have been too busy for me that night or maybe worse? she doesn't like me? does it matter that i have one of her few movies? hmm

i thought probobly way too much about this whole situation as i stared at my mad tv hat stack on my train ride home. i read way too much into everything that had happend.

but i suppose i will go to the next show anyway which is novemeber 13th and try to get her autograph again because she is just that great. and besides mad tv is a fantastic show period, even without meeting her again. i can't be mad at crista for anything really. im proud to fight for her freedom and even more proud that she hugged me twice which is probobly more than alot of guys can truthfully claim. would i still like to date her? hell yes. but it certainly appears now that will likely never happen.

any more questions about the show? or maybe some questions about my lame quest to get crista to date me?

better believe i will give you all another update once i see show number three on november 13th.

and remember, i may have forgetten a skit or three in there because my memory for that stuff is not very good. my mind was all nervous thinking about meeting crista again, remember?

This sounds EXACTLY like the #1207 Black Friday open...-_-

The second episode sounds a little better, but I dunno. It sounds too different. I guess we'll see tomorrow night. None of the stuff sounds original, either - I mean, stereotypical pancake house? And out of 2 episodes there's only ONE recurring sketch?

And ugh, I can already tell Johnny is Bobby Lee Pt. 2.

I'm getting worried.

i think if you see this episode on tv, it might come off as average, but being there in person together with meeting crista, for me anyways was a perfect 10!

oh and i just remembered that carlos mencia guest starred on the season premier. i hate carlos mencia, i find him agonizingly boring. he went to the same college as me, but is obviously alot older. so basically i went to an entire college filled with minds of mencia. well not exactly, but sort of...

johnny sanchez mocked him brilliantly tho i thought. i hope all enjoy that moment where johnny mocks carlos right to his face. the impression got such a big laugh, carlos kindof frowned at him for a moment which was truley a great moment to behold live.

yeah anjelah started off her stand up kindof slowly and the audiance was kindof groaning like "ughhhhh this girrrrl already" (if you know what i mean) but she kept right on going and got some bigger laughs toward the end of her routine. She mocked korean nail ladies the best. that part was probobly the highlight of her segment.

I don't think I like this whole "stand-up" thing though. Stand-up doesn't belong on a sketch comedy show IMO, unless it's like a mock one (like Luanne Lockheart).
