Good post Frank. I'm glad to hear Lisa is funny. Obviously she wouldn't have been hired if she wasn't but it is a nice reassurance

I guess some of us would like the best of both worlds. Laughing uproariously at hilarious comedic pieces while simultaneously having our homoerotic man lust fantasies satisfied by delicious he beef. The very funny and equally chiseled Josh Meyers gave us that. We had a taste of hunk honey dipped in laughing sauce and we just can’t get enough.

Mad Tv should have got Liam Sullivan (the guy who played Kelly in the "Shoes" video on youtube) instead.

I appreciate a good beat-down ever once and a while, but I do agree that we need another new male cast member. Frank was our last once since.... Jordan? Lisa is coming after Nicole RJ and Arden, which is about half a season.

I don't think the men are weak, I just think that women in sketch comedy, especially MADtv, tend to be liked more for whatever reason.

Ouch! You tell him. Whoo, I haven't seen a beating like that since Ali vs. Frazier!

But what do you have against MTV? My Super Sweet Sixteen is AWESOME!

Somehow I dont think Lisa is going to be the only new cast member this season...I have a feeling they'll add another guy, probably a Michael McDonald-esque guy, since I have a feeling his time on the show is limited.

I dissagree. I think in season one the men were stronger than the women. The current male castmembers of Mad TV just aren't as good as the women.

Yeah, I think in Seasons 1-2, the men were slightly stronger then the women. Mary was great, but Nicole Sullivan didn't really get GREAT until Season 2 (sorry, mizzimad she's still awesome!), and Debra didn't really do anything note-worthy until Season 3 or 4. However, besides maybe Artie and Bryan, the men were all really strong.

I think starting with Season 4, though, the women became a whole lot stronger then the men. While we've had good males, they never seem to match up to the women...that's one of the reasons I think the Season 9 cast was the worst ever, there was only 1 regular female (Well, 2, but Mo was only a regular for what? 10 episodes?) and the rest was all males...and the only really good males at the time were Ron and Paul.

Season three is when it turned around I think. Although there was Will, Phil and David Herman (for a while) there was Nicole(Who I think was strong since episode one), Alex, Lisa and Mary.
Once Mo showed up I think the females took over entirely.

I disagree. While the cast in general isn't that strong, the only real standout female is Nicole P. The men aren't much better, though.

I'd say the females are more liked because there aren't as many of them, so there's less of a chance of having a really bad one. We've had some really awful, or at least considered awful, males over the years (Andrew Daly, Ike, Bryan, Bobby, etc.), but we haven't had a really bad female (Stephnie was pretty weak her first few seasons, but quickly became a fan favorite; I personally thought Crista was awful in season 10, but she's improved; and I never liked Nicole Sullivan, but she's one of the most popular cast members ever, so...).

Ah, I guess I should have specified what era of MADtv I was talking about. The first years had some great male leads, but it wasn't until around season four or five that the females really began to take over.

I don't see them playing too many romantic leads with any white cast members, and Michael usually gets the white male leads. And it's more of a factor in parodies, etc.

So contrary to what many think, I didn't replace Caliendo and NRJ didn't replace Danielle. We are totally different people and performers and to say we are only there to do what someone before us did is limiting. We are all trying to bring something new to the show. I have zero interest in replicating someone else's past success, I'd rather carve my own path, and though the road is probably longer and more difficult, in the end it will be more fufilling and have integrity.
So if the producers hired someone that was a similar physical type as you, with a similar set of tools and background as you, you wouldn't feel threatened?

It's easy to say that no one replaces anyone when you're the new guy (this is only your second season right?) And I would agree that you did *NOT* replace Calliendo -- I mean that guy is probably the biggest break out star on MADtv in recent history (just due to his Madden stuff on Fox Football).

But is it just a coincidence that you get more roles now that the one guy that was your same physical type in off the show?

I don't really know how to do that quote thing.

I may possibly be threatened, but I am confident in my abilities and so was Frank. My arrival had zero to do with his departure, which was his decision. The show wanted him to come back, but he had fufilled the terms of his contract. Therefore he had a choice if he wanted to return and he chose not to, that's all. I spoke to him before and since. Trust me, he has plenty going on and he'll do all of it very well.

Similar physical type? Yes. Same background? No. Same tools? No.
Caliendo was primarily a stand up with great impressions prior to MAD. I come from an acting/improv background. As far as I am concerned, there is a huge difference between sketch and improv training and stand up. Caliendo is IMO one, if not the most talented impressionist in the country. My first impression was at my MAD audition. It's just something we don't do in improv and at Second City. I think my skills lie in physicality, character, and musicality. Again you're trying to make us all out of some cookie cutter comedy mold. Was Sasso exactly like Farley? Was Farley exactly like Belushi? Is Caliendo exactly like Darrell Hammond?

I see what you're doing here and it is uncalled for, I am not going to defend my ability to you. I assure you MADtv is and will not be the only indication of my talent. Talk to me in a few years and let's see where I'm at.

But is it just a coincidence that you get more roles now that the one guy that was your same physical type in off the show?

I disagree, the only role that I have done this year that Frank probably would have done was 20 second Capote bit. I actually think I got more roles last year. And the things I have done this year they would not have Frank do, dress up in spandex and sing 80s rock songs. Believe it or not our talents are different, though our names and bodies are similar.

Just press the quote button on the bottom, or use [QUOTE-][/QUOTE-] tags (except without the hyphen).

And, oh, MADtvPwnsSNL getting owned by Caeti twice? Oh, this is HILARIOUS!
