Is Carlos Mencia the worst comedian in the history of comedy?

I swear, everywhere I turn i hear people saying how funny Carlos Mencia is. It makes me want to kill myself/them/Carlos Mencia.

I have never seen a comedian as unfunny as Carlos Mencia. He seems to think he is THE ballsiest comedian on TV. In reality, everything he says has been said a million times by comedians a million times funnier than that fat, untalented hack.

Carlos Mencia is an average comedian there are many comedienes that are worst.

Probaly the worst is Ralphie May.

I don't know who he is really I've only seen a few unfunny bits and pieces, but I saw a clip on Youtube with Joe Rogan talking about how much he HATES him because he disses his "culture" when in reality he's a white guy pretending to be Mexican or whatever. And then Bobby Lee comes along and says how he stole some of his material, and is like "wait ... is this gonna be on tv? Really I love Carlos Mencia!"

Can't find it anymore ... but but those are my 0.02 cents.

The "worst comedian" award would go to Janeane Garofalo if I were issuing it. (Alex sooooooo nailed the impression. ) Even so, the "mind of Mencia" is pretty empty, IMO. I've never gone out of my way to watch Carlos Mencia, but I have seen him haunt my telly on a few occasions. As has been pointed out, the guy seems to think that he's some sort of cutting-edge provocateur--"start writing your hate mail!"--when in fact he's just rehashing the same tired, politically incorrect crap that everyone else revels in. Some embittered schoolmarm somewhere in this world would actually be doing everyone a favor by permanently wiping that goofy-ass smirk off his face. Duh-duh-DUHHHHH, indeed!

I haaaaate him. I wouldn't say he's the worst in history though. I agree with this comment:

Carlos is one funny mother trucker. I tune in every Wednesday at 10:00 on Comedy Central. I really liked it when he went on the streets and asked how parents punished their kids. All the white parents either had timeout or took thing away while the black families beat their kids. One kid even said his dad jits like a girl.

He's funny at times, I'll say it. Although a lot of times Mind of Mencia isn't that great (I LOVED it in it's first season though), every once in a while he can still be quite hilarious.

I think you mean Wednesday at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday 10:00 p.m. is usually the time that "South Park" premieres its newest episode most of the time.

Honestly, I don't see what all the hate against him is about. Yeah, other people may have done the jokes he's doing, but I think that's basically the same for any comedian nowadays (because, let's face it, it's REAL hard to do something that hasn't already been done). Does that mean he shouldn't go that extra mile to TRY to be original? No, but as he is, he's okay. Sometimes he's absolutely hilarious, sometimes he's terribly lame. But I most certainly wouldn't call him the worst comedian ever.

I will say, though, that Mind of Mencia is REALLY starting to become like Chapelle's Show Redux this season.

I don't hate him, but I agree with Mizzi, he thinks he's so edgy and "goes where no other comedian will." That's just a load of BS.

It really annoys me when he says like "You're all too afraid to laugh at this" (OK Mutha Teresa, whatever.)
Eff you man, I laugh at funny things, regardless of what race the joke is about or if in in public or in my damn house.

But as far as comedians go, I don't hate them, I just may not find their act funny.

I;ve never seen him but he already sounds ****ty. I hate people who try to shove edgy content down your throat. Dane Cook is pretty bad too. It's all been done way better but these guys seem to have to dumb it down.

I deem Carlos a mixed bag. His show sucks, hes too energetic with his jokes and spends all his time with "YEAH I SAID IT" sort of jokes that are meant to offend sensibilities and thereby puts less effort into good funny joke writing.

That being said, when hes just being himself, hes a funny guy. He's on as a guest of an XM show I listen to frequently and when hes there and not doing a schtick or anything hes actually really funny and makes some interesting points.

I think this is the best summary of Mencia, and should be a rule for comedy. Edgy can be funny but it does not equal funny. South Park, for instance, is funny while being edgy and un-PC. However, it is not BECAUSE of this. It is funny because Matt Stone and Trey Parker are just themselves uncensored. Material stops being "edgy" and just becomes annoying when the comedian goes out of their way to be un-PC and "in your face" because they think in order to be funny, they have to be offensive. Mencia is his own worst enemy when he gets too caught up with being offensive and ultimately ruins what could have been a great joke.
