This is something that I've seen at loads of other forums, but have been too afraid to start here incase one or two people monopolised the thread and turned it into their own personal sex chat line (or worse). Anyway, we'll see if this works for us. If not, YOU'RE ALL BANNED.

Nikky poo, this isn't a "WHATEVER!" thread so don't get your panties in a premature bunch. A random thought is something thought provoking, interesting, or just totally random and stupid, that you would like to share with people, but don't feel deserves a thread all of its own.

Like the fact that it is 3:20 am, I've been sitting at my computer since basically 8am yesterday morning, trying, in vain, to write a measly FIFTEEN HUNDRED word essay, which was due yesterday. At the time of writing this post, I only have basically a sentence left to go, but I have basically no idea what I'm writing about anymore. Where's a bloodshot eyes emoticon when you need one? x_x

Oh, hehe, guess that's not what you had in mind. Umm, okay, I suppose that I could use this forum--pardon the pun--the express some of my myriad curiosities. Like, in golf, why is a score of two under par on a hole called an eagle, whereas a score of three under par on a hole is called a double eagle, when in fact the number three is only one and a half times greater than two, not twice as great (i.e., double). Shouldn't a double eagle then be called a one-and-a-half eagle or 1.5 eagle? Also, why do other people around the world call a double eagle an albatross, thereby conveniently avoiding the numerical part of this conundrum altogether by simply naming the score after yet another bird? Turn it on its siiiiiide :\ (The eyes are the colons : and so if you rotate them 90 degrees to get: .. then you need to turn the \ the same way... it makes sense if you think about it)


I think random thoughts all the time: like what if what I thought what was blue was green to you? So blue to me would actually be blue... but blue to everyone else. I would live my entire life believing green was actually blue... No one could correct me because you can't see what I see... I see the sky as green, but call it blue because I was taught that the sky was blue... but a green sky would be normal to me because I've seen it all my life... Does anyone get what I mean?

Strangely enough, Eric, I do. I wonder to myself if sounds sound the same to others as well, if smells smell the same, if the sensation of touching something soft feels the same to others. Also, if the universe if constantly expanding, then are we expanding with it? In other words, are things exactly the same size from moment to moment, or do they change proportionately? Is six feet always six feet, or does it later become what we used to think of as eight feet, ten feet, a mile, a light-year? Is left always left, or does it become right when we're not paying attention? Yes, these things keep me up at night; I rarely sleep.

Actually, I have a serious one here.

There was a user named Dani who had around 1500 posts, but without notice, all of her posts vanished. It's like she never even existed on this forum. Were they all deleted, and if so, then why?

And honestly, I think about the colour thing a lot too. All I can really say about it though is that if we do see different then I like the setup I have.

I actually can't beleive other people think of the colour situation.
Edit: actually you explained that very well too. I tried to express that idea to some friends but I wasn't that clear lol.

And I will probobly never put something interesting in my sig. I always forget about it....

Dani wanted all of her posts deleted so "people wouldn't look up her email and username and find out she used to post here," so I did a mass prune ofher account. It might have affected her chances of running for Presidency or something.

1. I hate that so much, too! I wonder why some people do that. As if people want to listen to the whole conversation. My sister does that.

2. Sometimes it adds piZAZZ to the page. And I know that I've gone to some people's pages and heard new songs that I've never heard on the radio or anything. Good to hear new music.
