[MADtv] Live Taping Experiences

DISCLAIMER I'm attempting to tell everyone about the live taping on Friday, December 12, 2003. IF you think I'm bragging or telling it wrong, if you went and think I missed something, please tell me. If you have any questions, I'l be happy to answer them, but now, here it was!

We got there at around 2:45 pm.

TIPS: The tickets say that you get in at 4:30, but you have to get there early, because the line starts forming, and, depending on how many school groups are there, you may not get in if you're in the back of the line.

We were at the front of the line, but not the first ones there. We wait for an hour and a half until the on camera audience staff came out and counted us. We then went throught the gates and metal detectors. we had to sit and wait until every one was through the metal detectors, then we got a boring speech from the head staffer, jay, about cell phones, pagers purses, ect. Then we were led into the studio. we had to wait to be seated, so we stood in a line on the stairsuntil they picked out seats. we were on the left , in the back. There was a little music and then alan came out. Alan Murray is the warm up act who keeps us occupied while sketches are being re written and sets are being re worked. He came in and gave us a little more of a speech about cell phones and stuff like that. Then we watched some play backs.

PlayBack Already taped sketches

The first one was the ME against madonna video. Through out the night we saw a lot of new play backs, including two that are supposed to be shown tonight. The boys of Ambercrombie and Fitch (this is a great sketch for any one who finds Josh, Ike, Mike or Ron attractive) and Lord of the Bling: Return of the Bling. After the playbacks, they showed us the cast intro's (the show opening) We had to yell and scream every time we saw a cast member's name (it got the loudest for mo and michael) Then, we saw a live sketch. It was a stuart sketch. They did it twice, and then did a really quick littl "Happy Birthday" to some producer. Then, we saw some more play backs, and alan threw out some t-hirts. Then, they did another live sketch It was the family that's always fighting (Ike and Mo are the fighting parents and Stefani was their daughter. They were on for thanksgiving.) Ron was the grandfather, and Paul was their neighbor. His wife was played by Melissa Paul, the newest cast member. They did this one twice, and then did a pick up

Then, we saw some more play backs. The Next sketch was A Marvin Tikvah sketch. He had to play santa and go to a group home for community service. Then there were a few more playbacks and some more distractions by allan. Then they did a farewell sketch for lorraine. almost every one was in this sketch. Mo, stefani, michael, ike, josh, ron, frank, bobby, aries, and paul. They did this twice, then they showed a playback that had to do with the sketch. Mo came out after this sketch and started to make a speech. she told us how happy she was to see every one there, that she was going to miss the show, and how happy she was to be part of such a great thing, It was really touching. Then, there was a musical performance by West Side Connection. Sries was introducing them. He was in a white fur coat. Ike came out into the audience and told every one to shout, "Fur Is Murder" Aries then came out and told every one "Yeah, it is, but it sure does keep you warm- don't hate the player, hate the game!" He introduced them and they performed "gangster nation" I was there for the performance by maya, and she did really good, but this one Kicked ASS! They really did well, it was almost like a really, really short concert. They did the song twice. The next sketch was a dorothy lanier sketch. She was volunteering at a soup kitchen. Josh and Nichole played homeless people, and Paul and Aries were volunteers. This one was done twice. They they did a quick pickup and then moved on. The last live sketch was about boy scouts, Paul was a boy scout troop leader, ron, frank and josh were boy scouts and Ike was a soccer player. After this they had curtain call, and mo came out. Michael made a speech about how he always wrote mo into all of his sketches. Then, The executive producer, David Salzman came out and started talking abot what an assait to the show mo had been, then mo started talking about how lucky she was to have worked at mad. It was a really touching speech, and it made a lot of people get pretty emotional. Normally, we would have been able to talk to the castmembers, but the crew was having a good bye party, so we didn't get to talk to anywhere. We left, it was about 12 when we got out, we'd been sitting there since around 5, and it felt good to be up and walking around again. I got a few pictures, but my camera is crappy, so forgive me if this doesn't look very good, it's from kind of far away. For give me if it doesn't come out right!

they didn't even show her in the cast opening, I was sitting in the audience trying to figure out if she was an extra or not when alan told us there was a new cast member.

It would be so cool to see some of the forum mebers come to a live taping. Its like mo sad last friday, "there really is nothing like it" It's really like a party. I hope every one here gets to go some time. and if you are gonna go, tell me when you get your tickets, so we can meet when you get there

How much are tickets? I hope to goto one someday..but I find it hard to belive I will as Il ive in Ontario, and they tape in LA..yet anouther string about being canadien..

Don't feel bad..LA is a five hour plane ride from here My chances of ever seeing a taping are pretty slim unless I go there on my spring break...

They are free. if some one ever tries to sell you tickets, don't do it. (unless it's me just kidding) You can get tickets at www.ocatv.com
