I'm drawing a total blank on this one. Frankly, unless I'm packing wood for someone or they look so off-the-charts offensive you can't *help* but take notice, I usually don't. I'd be surprised if I was even able to comment on this during the commercial break immediately following her performance.

I think I'm becoming a Katie fan again. She doesn't have the voice to win, but she's someone whose performances I can watch without groaning. This season, that's high praise indeed.

As a personality, she's a bit of a dud, but not everyone can be Kelly, Kellie, or Shiv. Gonna listen to her studio recordings today, and we'll see how she holds up. And then I'll be back to rage even harder than I otherwise would've later tonight when she gets voted out before all these vocal duds.

Once again the worst nation when it comes to voting for things makes another mistake.

I was watching Ranked on Much More today, and they were showing 10 of the best idol contestants, and it made me realize that for the American version (they stuck in some of the Canadian versions, probably since Much More and CTV are owned by the same company who produces Canadian Idol, but they are all such no names that I'll probably see one of them working behind the till at the KFC when I go to see if the Double Down is in Canada today), after Kelly none of the other winners have really made it big. I mean some of them had good debut album like Carrie Underwood and Jordan Sparks, but after that a lot of them make a second album that really never accomplishes what the first did. Kelly was almost that until she left Simon's record label and it got better. I know they haven't had as much time as Kelly to make it big, but they have had second albums that have not done that well. Makes you wonder if all this voting stuff is pointless because no matter what, the winner will probably be bound to a good frist album at best and that's it.

Also, something I noticed last week has been bugging me to say. When Glassblower sang she said that the line in the song "nothing's going to change my world" was so powerful to her, and yet in that performance she changed almost everything about her from her singing style to her look.

Pointless for whom, though? As a fan, I only need these people to remain big enough stars to warrant further album releases. I have no stake in how cushy their lives are or what sort of legacy they might leave behind.

Ah, but her look rests solely in the hands of the stylists, and as she pointed out to the judges this week (and has already proven), EVERYTHING is her style. Her talent allows her to do whatever she wants, and whatever she wants is exactly what she's going to do.

I'm not talking about cushy lives I'm talking about relevence, because if they don't have a good second album, they may not get a third, and will just enter obscurity.

Well, at least we gave them their chance. If they don't have what it takes to write 3-4 half-way decent singles every two years (or the cash to hire someone who can), that's their problem. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
