Yeah, I know. Glassblower seemed to be the best, but now I realize that except for the scream, she's subpar. I don't really like anyone on here, and frankly, I think Simon's getting worried because whoever wins this, has to be signed to his label for a year. I must say I do like that Teflion Tim guy because it just seems like he's having fun. He's the true wierd one because he's not really that bad, but he's not great, but he's beloved because he is the only one who seems to acknowledge the horrible judging that has been going on this season.

Nah, Siobhan forever. Once again, you've completely misread my intentions.
![]() This week, she chose a song too big for even her. She made a mistake. She's still one of the top five most talented contestants the show's ever had, she still sang it better than any of the others could've in their wildest dreams, and I'm confident she'll resume nailing their coffins shut next week. I absolutely ADORE this girl. If she makes it to the end and releases a reasonable album, we're looking at my next Kelly. ![]() __________________ /bw |

Well bw, it is in my opinion that you are thinking in delusions

This is what always makes me laugh about rock vocalist detractors -- any high note, regardless of how it's delivered, is automatically a scream and is therefore unpleasant, and any understated but perfectly on-key performance lacks high notes and is therefore subpar. If this isn't your preferred style of singing, that's cool, but you can't have it both ways. Neither of these clips contain anything even *approaching* a scream.

I am not a rock vocalist detractor, I just think that if someone screams a lot in performances and then goes to a song with a rock high note, that's not enough of a difference when someone does a lot of screaming notes. Also, her first performance was not on-key. She sounded like she was singing with a cold. And, how can you say neither of these performances even approach a scream when you said that in the second song contains a high note. High note, scream. Not that far apart.

1.) "House of the Rising Sun" contains no high notes of the rock variety. It's a ballad.
2.) Even if it did, they'd only qualify as screams if she screamed them. She didn't. 3.) If we're equating high notes with screams, all talented vocalists scream; ergo, both talented and talentless vocalists are unpleasant; ergo, non-instrumental music sucks and should immediately be purged from the culture. 4.) You're only one chromosome away from having a vagina. XX, XY. Not that far apart. Can I call you tvwoman from now on? 5.) It's possible she had a cold during "Wicked Game" week -- that I'll grant you. I've seen similar comments floating around the various internets. Either way, having a cold and singing on-key aren't mutually exclusive. Again, there's no shame in simply admitting she's not your cup of tea. There is in continuing to argue falsehoods. ![]() __________________ /bw |

I think just my main problem with Glassblower is that my mind has been spoiled by better talent. This show has had so many singers that have been really good, and the crop is so bad this year, that even though Glassblower is good, and is probably the best of the field, she's just not as good as some people in the past

See, now that's reasonable. Myself, I don't mind that she's a step or two behind Kelly, Glambert, and Daughtry at this stage in her career. With zero vocal training to her name, she still has room to grow, and with the Evanescence-y vibes she's putting out, following along every step of the way is sure to be a pleasure. If there is, indeed, a long haul, I'm in for it. The idea that an artist right up my alley might slip through the Idol machine alone makes this season worthwhile for me. Overall, though, it is, without doubt, a huge step down from the two prior. We've definitely been spoiled rotten as of late. Not that someone who isn't a fan of the show would know, mind you.

The thing is though, you should hope Glassblower doesn't make it to the end. Look at all the people who have gone on to superstardom despite not winning the show. In theory, you have a better chance of becomming a famous singer finishing in like 4th than anything else, and you have more of an oppertunity to do it your own way. I don't think Glambert would have been able to do what he did if he was signed to Simon's label. That's probably why he didn't win.

That's a common criticism of Idol -- one that I've been known to perpetuate myself, no less -- but I still question if it's truly the reality. I've listened to a lot of debut albums from Idol alums at this point, and without exception, they've been steaming piles of manufactured horseshit no matter *where* the contestant placed. Even Adam's album, coming from a true artist as it did, couldn't have been more generic. Not at all what I was expecting from him. Thankfully, if you're able to move enough product to warrant a second release, it's usually all uphill from there. Either way, with the, ahem, "talent" this season, Shivvy's all but guaranteed second place behind the chosen one. Win-win.
I wring my hands in delight over the sales disaster they've set themselves up for with Pigpen. Mark my words -- that girl *will* be the next Taylor Hicks. __________________ /bw |

Also, I should say that the reason why I call Glassblower Glassblower, is because I cannot say her first name. Even when I've heard people say it, the words don't connect to the sound. Plus, Glassblower is such a great nickname, and it works because she is a glassblowers apprentice. __________________ ![]() ![]() Planet MADtv (August 28th 2002- August 28th 2009, August 28th 2010)

Ok, now Glassblower is Idol. This was the performance for me. There was no scream, it was a different pace done well, and I also realized that the one thing I was having trouble with was her look. I just hated that damn mullet she kept sporting. No one looks good in a mullet anymore. Tonight she looked good because there was no mullet. It was sleepy, but I had no problem with that, because that's what I wanted. I still don't think she's as good as Idol's past, but she is the best of the field.

I was pretty cold to this one. Don't know the song, don't like the song, and the performance was far too restrained for my tastes. This was exactly what she needed to do this week to silence the critics, but it's not at all why I fell in love with her. With Glambert, king of the screams, mentoring next week, though, I'm already counting down the days until my Siobhan returns in full force. If she doesn't have a(nother) moment, I'll be shocked.
Gonna have to disagree with you on the hair as well. This Golden Girls look NEEDS to go, NOW. Throw a flower in her hair and be done with it, assholes: ![]() There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I don't need her looking like a different member of the Addams Family each week, thank you very much. ![]() EDIT: Also, this from tonight's pre-performance clip: ![]() HACHI MACHI! Please, sir, can I have some more? __________________ /bw |

![]() I will say though I would like that just flower in low hair style myself too for every episode, but in this day and age where people are board within seconds, styles always need to be changed ![]() I'll take your Oliver and throw in a "Merry Christmas one and all!" to that image.
