I will say this...

...she could have been A LOT worse. Honestly, it was this performance that convinced me that maybe, just *MAYBE* Avril would clean up her "OmGz im s0 pUNk y4y ME" act in order to do adult contemporary music ala Alanis Morrissette. Now, her new album (which I don't know the name of because I could care less about it) has reverted Avril from a 'punk rawk grrl' joke to a 'bubblegum pop princess' joke. I bet those record executives are grinning all the way to the bank.

I hope this is a good sign.

I have yet to hear that God-awful Girlfriend song on all the mainstream radio stations. And I have yet to see that ridiculous music video being rotated on the likes of VH1 or Fuse.

I don't watch MTV or MuchMusic, since those two channels are a fountain of pop culture crap.

I'll just assume that Girlfriend is being played on teenybopper outlets like Radio Disney, and that MTV/Much is giving the video lots of serviceable love.

The last thing this world needs is a lethal dose of Avrilness from the media (a la 2002).

My friend sent me this link-

If you think Avril can't sing at all, just check out that performance.

If your mind still won't change, then I guess to each his own.

Guys, please pray with me that Nine Inch Nails beats Avril on the Billboard Albums chart this week.

That is a pretty good showdown I think. Even though Avril will maybe sell more it means nothing about Nine Inch Nails' music content which is so much more important than record sales.

Yeah I just saw on TV that Avril Lavigne's CD did beat NIN's new album. NIN did get second though, I wonder how close they were.

I think while "Girlfriend" isn't the best song Avril has ever done, I kinda like it.......Except the lyrics are kinda retarded, but I dunno it seemed to me that Avril just wanted to do like a fun song or something..Hopefully the other songs on the CD aren't like that though..Or I'll shoot myself in the face.

Knickers:

For months, I have not heard "Girlfriend" on the radio at all. And VH1 has never played the video. Why do you think that is?

Did you get my PM at all?

I dunno why the video isn't being played, I'm not affiliated with VH1/MTV...But my guess is, because it's not as good as her other work and probably because they think its like an immature song or something because that's what it seems like..I dunno. I havent heard the rest of her CD but I really like her other two cds, so I was just saying I like her based on that.

Knickers, let me know if you like or hate the rest of her CD. I don't want to waste my $ on something that's most teenybopper sh!t.

The only Avril song I like right now is Keep Holding On. But I gather from the general consensus that the rest of her CD blows.

I saw Pink in concert on wednesday night
she'd now get my vote..actually i think i voted her to begin with
shes an awesome singer and a fantastic perfomer.she put on one of the best shows i've ever seen and yeah.more then just a singer with backup dancers..she mixed it up..not that dancing is really her thing to begin with.and did some fancy circe de solie(however u spell it) type stuff on ribbons hanging from the roof..and didn't miss a single note
She was great

I don't like Pink's voice or her music- which is a weird combo of pop/rock and R&B. She sounds like a ghetto Janis Joplin.

IMO, Kelly Clarkson has a the best bag of pipes that outshines Avril, Pink, Hilary et al. combined.

BTW, I saw Linkin Park on SNL last weekend, and their second song rocked.

Thumbs Up Kelly Clarkson is back- already

Now here's some news that I'm sure will bring everyone here into some sort of consensus.

It seems that Kelly Clarkson is releasing a new album in June. The name of her new album is My December, which is odd- considering how it's only summer.

Her new song is called Never Again. I've heard snippets of it on the radio, but I haven't got into the song yet.

Who here thinks Kelly's new album will give Avril's most recent album a run for its money (sales-wise)?
