I saw Pink in concert on wednesday night
she'd now get my vote..actually i think i voted her to begin with
shes an awesome singer and a fantastic perfomer.she put on one of the best shows i've ever seen and yeah.more then just a singer with backup dancers..she mixed it up..not that dancing is really her thing to begin with.and did some fancy circe de solie(however u spell it) type stuff on ribbons hanging from the roof..and didn't miss a single note
She was great

Knickers, let me know if you like or hate the rest of her CD. I don't want to waste my $ on something that's most teenybopper sh!t.

The only Avril song I like right now is Keep Holding On. But I gather from the general consensus that the rest of her CD blows.

Knickers:

For months, I have not heard "Girlfriend" on the radio at all. And VH1 has never played the video. Why do you think that is?

TJ:

Did you get my PM at all?

I think while "Girlfriend" isn't the best song Avril has ever done, I kinda like it.......Except the lyrics are kinda retarded, but I dunno it seemed to me that Avril just wanted to do like a fun song or something..Hopefully the other songs on the CD aren't like that though..Or I'll shoot myself in the face.

Yeah I just saw on TV that Avril Lavigne's CD did beat NIN's new album. NIN did get second though, I wonder how close they were.

That is a pretty good showdown I think. Even though Avril will maybe sell more it means nothing about Nine Inch Nails' music content which is so much more important than record sales.

Guys, please pray with me that Nine Inch Nails beats Avril on the Billboard Albums chart this week.

My friend sent me this link-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YULKMNhEAuw

If you think Avril can't sing at all, just check out that performance.

If your mind still won't change, then I guess to each his own.

I hope this is a good sign.

I have yet to hear that God-awful Girlfriend song on all the mainstream radio stations. And I have yet to see that ridiculous music video being rotated on the likes of VH1 or Fuse.

I don't watch MTV or MuchMusic, since those two channels are a fountain of pop culture crap.

I'll just assume that Girlfriend is being played on teenybopper outlets like Radio Disney, and that MTV/Much is giving the video lots of serviceable love.

The last thing this world needs is a lethal dose of Avrilness from the media (a la 2002).

I will say this...

...she could have been A LOT worse. Honestly, it was this performance that convinced me that maybe, just *MAYBE* Avril would clean up her "OmGz im s0 pUNk y4y ME" act in order to do adult contemporary music ala Alanis Morrissette. Now, her new album (which I don't know the name of because I could care less about it) has reverted Avril from a 'punk rawk grrl' joke to a 'bubblegum pop princess' joke. I bet those record executives are grinning all the way to the bank.

Just a little curious-

What did you guys think when Avril performed on MAD back in Dec 2004?

Jewel crossing over to do mainstream pop was a huge mistake, she should of stuck with that folky stuff she did.also nelly furtado took a pretty big risk last year with her total 180 in music styles, much like jewel...except shes lucky that people actually like it a whole lot more(not including me)

Anvils last album actually had some alright songs on it(ugh i hate admitting that) but its like she had a big fall and hit her head cause she now more annoying then ever

Somehow, I'm still ever so slightly convinced that Avril's new album is going to be 'satirical' in the vein of Jewel's 2003 album. Anyone remember that album and how MADtv made fun of the song "Intuition"?

Speaking of, I now demand that MADtv makes fun of the 'new' Avril immediately. Crista would be perfect with the role!

I disagree with your friend in that Avril has hardly been in the public eye. I haven't heard a single word spoken about her for years and years. She also must have been in some really really minor movie roles because I hadn't heard of that either. I think most people believe that Avril dropped off the face of the earth after sk8er boi.

I do agree with you though. The last time anybody though about idol when they thought of Kelly was probably Miss Independent. I do think Kelly has the best chance because the south apparently loves how she says y'all all the time (she's always doing events like the Daytona 500) and teenage girls love the subject matter of her songs. As I've said, her music isn't really my cup of tea but she's got a good voice and knows what a large segment of the country likes so she'll do well. Avril will not.
