The only way MAD would use the old theme song, is if the budget is sufficient enough to pay residuals. Everytime the song is used, Heavy D receives a nice little paycheck because it is their song. If MADtv can't afford to pay such residuals, then they'll probably continue using that generic bullshit theme song from S13. It can be a bit catchy, but nothing compares to the original theme which gave it a more original flow.

I was hoping this person who downloaded these would download the rest. A few weeks ago I was looking for these video's, but I could only find openings going back as far as season 7. I had never seen the openings before this before (I was still too young to watch the show back then) and I was hoping they would be downloaded, so awesome. Fox should totally bring back the theme song, even if they have to pay for it, I mean come on, it's the MADtv theme song! You don't see NBC getting rid of the SNL theme song.

I don't know if residuals are really an issue. They aired little snippets of the theme in the first four episodes. I think the only way to know for sure is if they start putting older seasons on Hulu. I noticed they took out the Married... with Children theme, so if residuals are an issue, they'd do the same with this show.'

And why haven't you put S13's credits in the first post?

Actually I'm wondering more why did they cut their budget in the first place. I mean, come on, MADtv is the only show (to my knowledge) that is standing up to SNL. And they just cut their budget, and are so stingy they won't give them their original theme song. What's with that?

Well i do not know MAD TV is still a terrific show with or without a opening, i like.. Season 8 cause Debra is on it but no one seems to have it, lol


i truly hope mad keeps going because look IN LIVING COLOR, BLUE COLLAR TV, ETC never got as much success as MAD did and i would like for more to come...

After watching all of those, I have to say I loved the credits from season 5, I think they are my favorite, but I do wish that if they weren't going to keep doing the credits like they did in season 12, they would of went back to the season 8 - 11 format, I loved that one a lot too. I guess I loved them all, with the exceptions of season 13 and 1+2 were kind of lame, but cool cause they were with the magazine. 6 and 7 were sweet too. 4 was good, 3 was sort of lame too, but it was the last time we saw Mary Scheer in them . Anyways, I like when they show the characters, have the real theme song not the season 12 and 13 knock off one (12 because of the random "so crazy" in it, that I did not enjoy), and having an announcer is sweet too, even though it worked without one too.
