Penelope wa produced by Reese Witherspoon and directed by noob Mark Palansky. This movie turned out to be nothing like what the media had set it up as, I thought it was going to be a dark(ish) film about a girl with a deformity, but it was just another fairy-tale movie about some girl with an upturned nose. I mean, it wasn't even a hideous look, it was just a weird nose. Meh. Disappointment ensued.

Other than the stale story about learning to love yourself for who you are, the movie was not bad to look at. The style was interesting. Costumes, sets, accents were a bit ambiguous at times, making it confusing.

The cast was a high point in the movie. Christina Ricci was good of course, but Cathreine O'Hara and Richard E. Grant (playing her parents) stole her scenes for real. Lemon, an angry reporter played by Peter Dinklage was also the source of some great moments.

Overall, it's an okay movie to bring little kids or your grandma to, but if you're looking for more substance in a movie, look elsewhere.

So this movie comes out today but we got a screening at my school followed by a Q&A with Christina Ricci. She had some interesting things to say about her work and films and such. It was coo. Seemed like a chill person.

NYC-Artsy-Fartsy-Schools ftw. I'm sure NYU does 10x better in the guest department tho.

My favorite guest lecturer so far has actually been the animator Tom Sito. He had alot of cool stories about his work and he signed my Little Mermaid DVD. ^_^
We also had John Turturro but I had a damn test at the time.
