I agree, cartman, I agree.

Anyway, it's not definitely going to get canceled. Let's wait until March...

You know what they should do during this hiatus? Show classic MADtv reruns. From the first five seasons. But that'll never happen.

No, what they should air is Seasons 11 and 12 since, hell, it's not like Comedy Central's touching them.

Nope because then the writers of those eps will want huge cash for them and then it will just get uglier.....but it would be nice to see old school MAD

Well isn't SNL showing classic reruns? Or clip shows of old episodes or something.

Yeah I was actually gonna ask someone about that because I noticed recently that SNL has been airing reruns as well. I'm guessing they got hit by the strike as well.

Sigh...yeah they need to reair classic episodes from like the first few seasons but the last thing we need is more conflict.

SNL got hit with the strike long before MADtv did...since they write their sketches weekly, the week the writers strike hit, SNL shut down.

I think what's more depressing about all of this is that chances are we're gonna have to wait until next March just for new episodes of everything

...And now to twist things back to the positive side, this article states a possibility of the strike ending soon.

I could see Lorne going this route at some point. Girl Group? Not so much.

Well I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are curious as to what's going on with the writers strike being that it currently entered it's 9th week so I went online and found more info just to keep people updated if curious. Plus it's also another attempt to stimulate conversation.

Apparently the WGA and AMPTP don't have plans for any negotiations anytime soon. Of course the SAG could potentially go on strike considering their contracts expire in June.

This link talks about the impact the strike could have on movies in 2009 and 2010 if things continue as they are:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...010602144.html

This link from National Public Radio's website discussed the impact the strike has had on the Golden Globes to the point where there will be no award show this year:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=17910739

Personally, I feel as though things are looking very grim for the media industry right now. The only positive I see is the gateway opening up for Reality TV which I will probably get back into in the next few weeks. With regards to MADtv and the strike, if the WGA doesn't have any plans to go into talks with the AMPTP anytime soon chances are (and hopefully this isn't the case) but chances are we saw the entire 13th season ending with only 8 episodes--4 legit ones with the new format. I do remember reading online somewhere that AMPTP refused to go into talks again until February, but considering the dismal outcome of the last attemt at negotiations I see 1 of 2 things happening: 1) they won't go into talks again until after February, or 2) they will not make any deals with the WGA until negotiatons have been made with the DGA.

wow its a pretty sorry state atm isn't it?
These companies on the other side of the negotiations are really just hurting themselves now by not coming to the table with the writers
Look forward to 2762343 reality shows about billionaire monkeys marrying money hungry bitches.
oh wait..haven't we seen that shit before?

This strike totally sucks for the industry...and from what i've read, both sides are acting like spoiled brats.

The point of striking is to come to a fair conclusion on an issue, not to completely kill an entire industry and put all of network television in an extremely sad state, and apparently the WGA and AMPTP don't seem to understand this.

Here's a link that discusses the potential of the Oscars being hit by the Writers Strike.

According to Yahoo! News, the writers guild and the studios could reach a deal as early as the end of next week.
