“Saturday Night Live,” the only late-night television show that stayed off the air during the entirety of the writers’ strike, is expected to return on Feb. 23.

Default The strike is over! And this time, we really, really, REALLY mean it.

Okay, no more crying wolf (I hope). The agreement between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers was approved by 92.5% of the WGA voters. Although the agreement still has to be ratified, such is but a mere technicality (it appears). Therefore, it is now safe to say (I think) that the strike is officially over. REJOICE, BRETHREN AND SISTATHREN (I guess)!

Now watch as some other loophole crops up to make me look foolish. Anyway, it looks as though "MADtv" is good to go...uh...I think. Yeah, yeah, it is. For Courage of Our Conviction News, I'm mizzimad. (Okay, this strike has NOT been good for my paranoia. )

There's still plenty of time.
Well, as of this very moment, here's the current March schedule:
  • 2008-03-01: #1301
  • 2008-03-08: #1302
  • 2008-03-15: #1303
  • 2008-03-22: #1305
  • 2008-03-29: ???
Barring an unforeseen change in this data, it looks like we're not getting a full season after all. Draw your own conclusions as to what that may mean. The writing's on the wall, folks; enjoy the show while you still can.

You guys DO know that there's no set rule stating that they HAVE to end in May, right?

I mean, I agree that it's probably not likely, but they could still air episodes in June and July.

But I thought they were supposed to rush back into production after the strike? They REALLY can't afford to be airing reruns at this point.

I'm aware, just as I'm aware that an aborted season doesn't necessarily mean the series will be aborted in kind. As always, anything's possible, but the writing is on the wall all the same.

Ugh this doesn't surprise me but whatever. Hooray for reruns I guess. If you look at it from a positive perspective, it's possible that MADtv is waiting until SNL's season ends so that they can get ratings for the Saturday Late Night block. Of course with MADtv, just about anyhing is possible.

That would make sense, especially with the recent guests (Tina Fey and Ellen Page), but do they even take Nielsen ratings during the summer?

Also, like I said before, weren't they supposed to rush into production after the strike? Unless they're gonna try to rework the season (which, at this point, would be the greatest thing ever).

Based on various factors, I get the feeling they've been back in business since Monday; still, the schedule is what it is. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the coming weeks bring.

people need to stop being negative....try thinking positively...maybe that will help

That makes me sad that this season might get cut short.....less time with Nicole P if she is actually leaving (I'm still staying optimistic about this too!) Nicole might think "Hey I didn't get a good enough fifth season, and I would like a full season before I leave, then I could do more Disney Girl and other fun characters that seemed to be dead this season because of the writers strike!"

For those of you who don't frequent the general forum, MADtv is scheduled to return on March 29th.

Look for Arden and Bobby on the red carpet at the American Idol Top 12 party. Nicole, Crista and Daheli were all in attendance as well, but Bobby and Arden were the interviewers.
