Default Was Season 4 Weak?
What did you all think of this season overall? I've been seeing re-runs from this season recently, and I think they are really uneven. I even turned a couple shows off before they were over because I didn't like them, like the Christmas episode. Maybe I need to see more episodes yet, but I just can't get into the older shows as much as the ones from about season 6 on.

I cant agree with you there... Season 4 was good, a prelude to an excellent Season 5, arguably MAD's best.

Actually Season 7 was awful, It makes Season 4 look like "Gone With The Wind"

Haha, I'm the exact opposite. I love seasons 1-5, I think that season 6 is when MADtv started to go downhill. The comedy was sharper, the cast was stronger, the material was fresher. Season 6 was uneven, season 7 was awful, season 8 was decent but also uneven and season 9 started out well but seems to be falling fast and getting pretty stale.

When I watch the older episodes I remember the reasons why I became such a huge fan of the show. I'll still watch it no matter what, but I doubt that I will ever laugh as hard as I did in the earlier seasons. There were some episodes back then when I would be in hysterics, laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. The only chunk of season 4 that I thought was really bad was all of that Bret Hart/Will Sasso stuff.

I agree that season 1-5 were the best and a few early season episodes as well. I actually remember seeing the season 6 premier and thought it was better than season 5 and it was going to be an awesome season. Man was I wrong.

i agree.. season six had an awesome premiere and i was so mad that it ended up sucking. youll notice thats when the shows ratings (and budget) began to plummet.

Actually The show's budget got slashed I think after season 2 and grew smaller and smaller every season. That's why claymation doesn't exist anymore and those expensive movie parodies with the real movie film are long gone. And the show's ratings went up after season 4. That's how the show got renewed for season 8, 9. Overall though the show has never been the same since seasons 1 to early season 6.

I liked season 4. It even had my favorite episode ever(402). Seasons 1-5 were amazing. Season 6 was ok, but not great. Season 7 was downright bad, and season 8 was the worst season ever. Season 9 is really picking up, the best season yet.

I agree I think that season 5 was definitely the best season ever. Followed by parts of season 6,and 7. Seasons 4,8, werent that good.
