I was thinking about the 2 part sketches thing and I think I have sofened a little on the issue. When I look at splitting up sketches I see 2 alternatives. The show eather splits sketches, or goes almost all remote, and we all know how bad that works. If I had to choose between splitting up sketches, and having the show almost all remote, I would choose option A everytime. I just wish that instead of making the 2nd part 20 seconds long, they made the original sketch longer. I mean MADtv has had sketches that have gone 8 minutes. I'm not saying they should all be 8 minutes long, but extend the sketches.

But most of the sketches they split up ARE remote.

I agree, though--they should be making the original sketch longer, not doing these pointless reprises.

Hopefully, in these last episodes, they went back and re-watched 1405--THAT was EXACTLY how a S14 episode should be done.

Default Review

Jerry Springer's Alleged Lovers: This sketch got too busy in the end. By the time Lauren got there, it was too much. And with all the yelling and everyone talking over each other, it was hard to follow.

Daughter of Legends #1: A rare sketch. A sketch written by a cast member! I hated this the first time I watched it but I liked it the second time. The highlight was Jamaal going on his rant that his hero fought just so Cerise could straighten her hair and fight for civil rights while she's buying a damn donut.

What would YOU do? #1: This was a show that is very MADtv parody, so for MAD to parody it was a good job by the writers. The highlight was the man calling his friend over to enjoy the beating.

Daughter of Legends #2: Should not have been cut up. The highlight was Cerise thinking an Apartheid was a black man with a part in his hair

What would YOU do? #2: I wasn't mad that they parted these because they needed to be parted. The highlight was Cynthia asking what would you do? We know what he does, what would you do?

Tafari Jones Workplace Reggae #1: By what I have read not a lot of people like this one but I thought it was the best sketch of the night. I love Keegan singing reggae songs, and he looked so funny in that Rastafarian hat and wig. The highlight was the song Beautiful Woman. A truly underrated jem.

What would YOU do? #3: This was getting a little old by this point but it was still funny. I'm still wondering if he passed the test?

Happy Women's Day from MADtv: Has anyone noticed that Nicole seems to wear that outfit a lot? I could swear I have seen her wear that outfit multiple times this season. Anyway, I thought Nicole was great in this one, but I am getting SO tired of the whole Arden drunk chick thing. She seriously needs to find a new act. While Nicole was great in this, Arden ruined the sketch. The highlight was just seeing Nicole as herself not in a closing, because she is so beautiful

Henibana #1: I wasn't sure about this one but it wasn't so bad. I love Keegan's reaction to the chefs work and it was nice seeing MADtv writer Colton Dunn in a sketch. I know I sound like a person who is being bought in by subliminal messaging, but I actually want to go to a Benny Hana's now. The highlight for me was Keegan in this one.

Tafari Jones Workplace Reggae #2: This was unneeded, but I was glad MADtv aired a few sketches before showing this.

Henibana #2: Again, unneeded and didn't make sense.

Tips #1: This one was ok. It wasn't great and I think Bobby's Ann Curry is one of the worst impressions he's ever done, but I think Nicole saved this one. She was definitely the highlight. The best thing was when she really started to go crazy.

Luann Lockhart's Date #1: I was so glad to see Luann in an actual sketch. It was also great that after years of talking about him, we finally see what Luann's abusive boyfriend looks like. He was like Carl for Lorraine. The highlight was MADtv going back through all the insults Luann had said that Kevin gave to her, and having Kevin say them. He said almost all of them. Way to commit MADtv.

Tips #2: This was ok, but what I really think would have been better is if Ann was talking and then Melinda came in in a bald cap yelling at Ann about how stupid she was. That would have been so much better.

Luann Lockhart's Date #2: Ok, except for the reason I have mentioned multiple times. The highlight was Kevin saying that Luann should not kiss her in public jackass.

MADtv Extras: Tips #1: Ok for an extra. The highlight was Bobby swearing off the guy laughing at him.

MADtv Extras: Henibana #1-2: I liked these better, mostly for Keegan. The highlight was the serious hand clapping by Keegan.

Jerry Springer: What have we Learned Tonight?: It was good that they gave Jerry a little more to do than just the first appearance, and this was a different way to end the show. Not bad.

Crista Flanagan Closes: Ok, but I wish MAD added a little more to these, that way they could maybe even eliminate the 2nd part of a sketch.

Out of 95 stars this episode got 61 1/2 from me. That's about a high C- episode. A step up from last weeks travesty but MADtv still has a way to go.

Did anyone notice that in the Luann sketch there was a sign near the door that said This is Not a Sign?

Jerry Springer's Alleged Lovers: It was okay. The tattoo that said "Jerry loves Todd" was really unexpected. I just don't understand why Lauren and the pirate were there.

Daughter of Legends: I didn't laugh at all, but Erica shined in this one. I couldn't help smiling to her. It was a nice sketch, but not funny.

What would YOU do?: Best sketches of the night. Johnny just keeps getting better.

Tafari Jones Workplace Reggae: Just bad, that's all I can say. The second part was little better, but it wasn't that good, either.

Happy Women's Day from MADtv: Stupid and predictable. Arden's act is really pushing my nerves.

Henibana: I did laugh a little to Erica and Eric, but as a whole, this was just really unfunny. Keegan was even more annoying than usually and I didn't believe that could be possible.

Tips: This kind of reminded me of Montel Chilliams from season 11. Nicole was good in this, but Bobby ruined it.

Luann Lockhart's Date: Huge letdown. I love Luann, but this was almost unwatchable. She definitely should NOT be in actual sketches. Eric was good, though. This was most likely the worst sketch of the episode, unfortunately.

MADtv Extras: Pointless, didn't like.

Jerry Springer: What have we Learned Tonight?: Didn't really have a purpose. But yeah, it was different.

Ok... I'm finally watching this. I don't have high hopes, i have to say.

Jerry Springer - Erica showing some good talent... and we have a monologue that kinda works. And I just like Eric. And this solidifies my dislike for Lauren.

Eternal March 1, 2 - 100% sure that applause at the beginning was fake. This was a sketch that is increasingly rare at MAD nowadays. It had a good original idea at heart. Unfortunately, plot advancement and development does not exist in the minds of writers at MADtv. She's dumb and she says dumb things. Boom. Does not move from point A. Then it was reprised. Stupid. Extra star for Keegan and his "so y'all not gonna believe dis..." and "I should stabb you."

What Would You Do? 1, 2, 3 - An opportunity for some funny. The first sketch is funny, if very predictable. Reprise number 2 and 3 are the same thing. Incredibly predictable and a waste of time. And Crista's acing sucked incredibly in this sketch and ruined any believability. :

Workplace Reggae - Keegan is the only non-featured member who I have confidence in as an actor. Have always liked him, and this sketch was no exception. Though it wasn't terribly out-of-the-box, the lyrics were clever, Keegan's performance was good and the music didn't sound cheap and crap.

International Women's Day - I hate Arden and any writer who thought this was a good idea. This is the kabillionth time we've seen this exact "sketch"/filler with different topics. No stars.

Henibana 1, 2 - Eric's old guy character is getting a bit old but I still like him. Strangely, Keegan's overreacting character doesn't. Bobby's crappy Asian accent sucks. At least the bloody props are fairly believable. Classic MADtv, and not really in a good way... is this much different than John Madden Popcorn Popper? The head was pretty great, I have to say. And... another reprise. Stupidity.

Workplace Reggae... Again - You just can't do this with commercials. Liking Keegan's performace though so I'll give a couple stars. Clearly filler, though.

Today Show 1, 2 - Bobby is asian. This does not mean he can just play any asian character. He fails. So does the sketch. Nice to see Nicole though. The writing isn't really that shabby, too bad the performance falls flat. Oh, and a crappy Photoshop job is funny on the internet, not on a sketch comedy show. They friggin REPRISED THIS TOO.

LuAnn Lockhart 1, 2 - Oh so awkward. This is the type of character Crista shines in. Nice to take her out of the stand-up setting for a bit, though with no new elements, this act is getting stale. The ex boyfriend just made it depressing, though Eric played the part fantastically. My favorite one still remains Luann at the laundromat, with NRJ as the manager. That was brilliant. WTF REPRISE. NOOO.

Aaannnddd... Outtakes, fantastic. No stars.

Jerry Springer Final Thoughts - Um. Wait. They had a guest star, not in any sketches? And he just recapped the show. Stupid crap. No stars.

Weighted Scores:

Compared to the last show:

Compared to the rest of the season:

Compared to MADtv in general:

Compared to this week's SNL:

How is it getting old? This is the second appearance.

crista was playing cynthia mcfadden in that sketch, who is an actual journalist, who is pretty darn boring and awful to watch.. so if you thought crista was acting awful, it's only because she nailed the part

isn't crista just the greatest

Wow, that didn't take much!
I don't know why everyone doesn't like Keegan's overreacting in the Henibana sketch. I enjoyed it.

I know I keep talking about this, but I think MADtv would be much better at splitting up sketches if they put a little time between the split ups. They did this in the early stages when they started to do this but now the split ups are just too close.

Bobby's Ann Curry is fucking awesome.

Just wanted to clear that up before I reviewed this episode. This one was decent enough. I really liked Daughter of Legends (Erica wrote this too!), What Would You Do?, and Tips. Luann was really disappointing. As much as I love the character, Eric was such a dick that for a second I wished Crista would pull a Black Friday on him. The rest falls into the okay category. Henibana was disgusting, but I did enjoy Erica's line about Everest college. Pretty smart.

6.5/10

You know, the midget in this episode made me realize something. With MADtv getting cancelled, where will all the midgets go for work? I think MADtv has been the highest employer of midgets in Hollywood outside of that Little People, Big World show on TLC. Where will all the midget go?

Default Anyone Interested in Some Workplace Reggae?

Well while searching around the web I came across a very interesting site. Why wasn't this advertised on MADtv.com. I don't know why they advertise the Coach Hines thing from a year and a half ago, but they don't advertise the MADEC site, or this one. Anyway, check it out. There's not much to this, but still.

I caught the rerun of this last night, part of it. Bobby lee was really funny in it. I loved him as the Chef and Ann Curry. Nicole Parker's presence is amazing, I loved the "Happy Women's Day" with her and Arden, and her in the Ann Curry sketch. Erica Ash really impressed me too in the Henibana sketch, as did Eric. I loved Eric, Lauren, and Erica, I'm sad we wont see what more they could of contributed.
I saw the Luanne sketch before, it's pretty funny.
