In breaking news, Planet MADtv is pleased to report that funny man, improv wizard, and keeper of one of the top five Bill Closby impressions in the known universe, Dan Oster, has officially been signed for the rest of Season 13! Congratulations, Dan!

[The standard procedure "MADtv" employs for its featured players is to pick them up for an initial four episodes. If a featured player makes a lasting impression in those four episodes, then the show will offer him or her the opportunity to appear in more episodes. At first I read it as, "Oster la Vista, Bobby?" which I found to be a much more hackneyed headline, but alas, it was just Baby, and not Bobby.

I can't exactly say that I've seen much of Dan, but shouldn't MADtv be singing some female talent? Anjelah and Daheli would be some good additions after Nicole leaves next season, although can ever surpass a Nicole. They're all-powerful, including the gone-before-her-time Nicole RJ.

I'm so glad that Dan Oster was signed on for the rest of Season 13. His presence is surely capable of helping the show survive past S13. Major Props to Dan for being signed on for the rest of the season =D

Oh, and this question goes mostly to Blackwind: You've implied that MADtv's Season 13 will be shortened, or that it may be cancelled imminently. If so, why was Dan Oster's contract extended? Just wondering.

It won't be cancelled imminently -- they just can't hit the full 22 episodes unless they run into June, which isn't likely to occur.

If even one more episode hits the airwaves (and, at the very least, seven more will), renewing his contract was a worthwhile move.

Thanks- so at least there's some hope for MADtv, right? I guess the chances of a Season 14 still aren't great but you never know. But 13 years, if that's it, is an amazing run. Amazing.
