[MADtv] MADtv Wins 2 Creative Arts Emmys!

In a surprising turn of events, MADtv has won more than one Emmy at this years event, and it's more than just hair and makeup.

When this years nominees were announced, this show recieved the following nods:

• Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety, Music Program or Special - (#1115)
• Outstanding Make-up for a Series (non-prosthetic) - (#1109)
• Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or Special - (#1117)
• Outstanding Music and Lyrics - Song: A Wonderfully Normal Day (#1111)

And when the results were announced yesterday, Jim Wise and Greg O'Connor came away winning "Outstanding Music and Lyrics" for the Disney Girl sketch, "Wonderfully Normal Day" featured in episode #1111. In addition, the previously unannounced nomination for Wanda Leavey and Wendy Benbrook earned them an Emmy for "Costumes for a Variety or Music Program." The episode that earned them the nomination was the Season 11 Christmas Episode, #1109, which featured the popular sketches "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "QVC Quacker Factory."

MADtv wins an Emmy for writing (!) and nobody has anything to say about it? After all the "the writers of MADtv will never win an Emmy .." comments, I'm surprised people aren't more interested in this. I thought this was a pretty big achievement, and now that the show sees that Emmy's in fields other than hair & makeup are attainable, they might try harder to secure them next year.
