[MADtv] MAD Returns in 2010!!!* (*Not in the Way you are All Probably Thinking)

See, I told you all, I told you all it would be back!!! In all your faces! That's right people MAD is returning in 2010, but as you have noticed not in the way you think, as the Cartoon Network announced today that they have picked up a show based on MAD Magazine, that will be a sketch comedy show, only it's going to be animated.

It is described as "an animated sketch-comedy series utilizing a chaotic mix of animation styles and twisted humor to pull back the curtain and expose the truth behind movies, TV shows, games, pop culture and, of course, curtains!" Ok, so it's not really like MADtv is returning, but it will feature sketches with Alfred E. Neuman, and Spy vs. Spy, which is a throwback to the classic MADtv days.

I know most of you won't think that this is MADtv, or even close, but to me, with this show, and the possibility of MADtv 2.0 possibly coming on Fox, this is all proof that you can kill MADtv, but it'll still live on, even if it's only as a host inside other shows bodies. You can kill MADtv, but you can't kill MADtv's spirit!

Ah, I think I did this more to get reactions out of people who would only see "MAD Returns in 2010!!!*..." when they got to the forum page. This is still pretty front page news relevent though.

Would be awesome if some of the old MADtv characters (Swan, Stuart, Lorraine...etc.) made special animated appearances ever now and again.

Yeah sean, I was meaning to post a post asking where you have been. I know your sad that MADtv's gone, we all are (by the way, when I say we, I mean me, and and everyone else on here in denial) but the off-topic is still fun on here. SNL hasn't killed everything.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. It's nice to know that MAD is still moving forward even if MADtv isn't on the air.

Why hello there

Though an animated sketch show could be alright id still rather see a live action one. Surely with the talent out there they could learn from the mistakes made with MADtv and put together a show to rival SNL, a lot easier said than done it seems...

I don't understand that either why no one else is going after SNL. All that needs to happen is for a network like Fox or the CW to bring on a sketch show ran by the network that appeals to the younger audience. If they just do that and promote it which they would since it's there own product it would be successful. Everyone keeps saying SNL sucks, well then if it does then it should be easy to come up with a successful alternative.
