Orlando Jones was born on April 10, 1968. The son of a former professional baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies, Orlando was originally from Mobile, Alabama, but grew up in the state South Carolina. Teenage Jones attended the Mauldin High School in Mauldin SC, graduating in 1985. He then enrolled in the College of Charleston, South Carolina, and received his degree in 1990.

Realizing his interest in the entertainment industry, Orlando Jones set up his own production company named Homeboy's Productions and Advertising. Soon after, he scored his first Hollywood job in 1987, writing for the NBC comedy A Different World. In 1991 and 1992, Jones penned the Fox's series Roc (starring Charles Dutton) and co-produced The Sinbad Show (starring comedian Sinbad) in 1993. He also made a quick appearance on the Fox sitcom Herman's Head in 1992.

After hosting Fox's music series Sound FX, in 1994, Jones nabbed a regular role in the comedy series Mad TV. For two years (1995-1997), he portrayed a comedic version of such various people as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Dennis Rodman, Ike Turner, O.J. Simpson, and Dexter.

With a bit part in his first big screen film, In Harm's Way (1997), Jones then joined Larry David in the feature Sour Grapes (1998), playing the character of an itinerant man. Subsequently, he appeared in Woo (1998), Mike Judge's first directed film Office Space (1999, costarring David Herman), and Barry Levinson's praised drama, Liberty Heights (1999). Since then, he rolled in other motion picture work including Mike Judge's slapstick Office Space (1999) and Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia (1999). Audiences can also watch him in the comedy New Jersey Turnpikes (1999) and Barry Levinson's melancholy Liberty Heights (1999).

During the 2000s, Jones' career began to branch out. In addition to his witty appearances in the 7-Up campaigns, Jones won the lead role of Clifford Franklin in The Replacements (2000, along with Gene Hackman and Keanu Reeves) and played several unique characters in Harold Ramis' Bedazzled (2000). In the following year, he appeared in the comedy Chain of Fools (2000) and appeared in the video movie, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter, which was released in 2000. In 2001, he nabbed the role of Daryl Chase in the action-comedy Double Take (2001, alongside Eddie Griffin) and worked with David Duchovny and Julianne Moore in Ivan Reitman's sci-fi comedy, Evolution (2001, as Prof. Harry Phineas Block).

Jones added to his acting resume such films as Simon Wells' sci-fi The Time Machine (2002), Drumline (2002, as Dr. Lee), Biker Boyz (2003), Runaway Jury (2003), and House of D (2004). He also lent his voice to the TV series Father of the Pride and the virtual game Halo 2. Jones is recently reported to be starring in the ABC's crime-drama Evidence with Oscar winner Martin Landau.

True he was the guy that did all those 7-UP commercials, I use to laugh a lot when he was on the 7-UP commercials. Now I hardly see any 7-UP commercials + someone replaced him = not so funny commercials that made the TV networks pull the plug on the 7-UP commercials.

Default Orlando Jones possibly starring on a new TV series soon.

Yesterday, I got the USA today paper and there was a small item in which the creator of Alias is planning to do a new series pilot called "The Catch" in which Don Rickles and former MADtv castmember Orlando Jones star in.

Hopefully, This project will pick up ABC (Alias' network) or someone else within the next year.

I hope Orlando (or as Nicole Sullivan once said on MADtv "O") will do better on this series then he did last as a talk show host.

It will be ABC "midseason". Greg Grunberg and Orlando Jones will both play bounty hunters in this drama.

I also heard on the radio today that Orlando Jones is gonna be performing at the "Just For Laughs" comedy festival in Montral, Canada in Mid-July.

Maybe he is either doing stand-up or there is a possible mini-reunion of former cast members from MADtv.

Orlando started as a writer for the Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World. Soon after, he wrote for Roc, and then produced the Sinbad Show.

Fusion Tour Party
Celebrity-packed event celebrates all things Nintendo.
September 28, 2004 - Nintendo of America on Monday night kicked off the launch of its videogame and music hybrid Fusion Tour at a celebrity-packed event in Hollywood. Stars like 24's Elisha Cuthbert, Nicky Hilton and Orlando Jones reportedly stopped in to play some of Nintendo's newer software and listen to music spun from a live DJ.

Also on hand were Fusion Tour band members from Story of the Year, Lostprophets, My Chemical Romance and Letter Skills.

Nintendo Fusion Tour travels to 39 cities in the US and brings showgoers a healthy mergence of cutting-edge Nintendo videogames and trend-setting music.

Celebrities on hand for the launch party received only a small taste of the games and music to come. A mere handful of GameCube titles were on display, including the already-released WWE Day of Reckoning and Mario Kart. But that didn't stop Tinsel Town's finest from planting themselves around a pair of DK Bongos and giving the new music rhythm game Donkey Konga a good pounding. The game was, in fact, a highlight of the event, drawing in crowds of people consistently.

Check out our media section for a couple photos from the event and proof that star Elisha Cuthbert is just as sexy in person as she is on television.

Post Orlando Jones voicework for XBOX "Halo 2"

November 9, 2004 --

HALO 2
Three and a half stars
Platform: XBOX.
Rating: Mature. Price: $49.99 (limited edition, $54.99). Developed by Bungie Software, published by Microsoft.

JUST out today, "Halo 2" isn't merely the finest game ever created for XBOX: It takes the concept of aliens invading the Earth and turns it on its big, tired head.

The dialogue is so crisp, the graphics so enthralling and the characters so real that "Halo 2" whisks you out of your daily doldrums into another dimension - right into the game itself.

After an (overlong) opening movie about alien hordes planning doom, you're called to duty. All around you, in Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, are sounds of controlled chaos bordering on panic.

As the cyberhero (the rather idiotically called Master Chief), you're the Terminator, Luke Skywalker and John Wayne rolled into one. Add Tom Hanks, too, because you sometimes must feel empathy for the aliens who swarm from a massive ring floating in space - that is, the Halo.

If you've never played the original game, it'll take time to master the controls. That's because you're using super sensitive sticks (not buttons) to move around this futuristic version of Mombassa, Kenya, in Africa.

Once you get the hang of things, you're hooked. It's fun to kill those annoying little aliens with their Munchkin-like voices - but there are also, bigger, badder aliens who are a lot harder to kill.

Actors Ron Perlman and Orlando Jones add emotion to the witty script, and unusual weapons offer visceral thrills - along with your ability to steal and commandeer just about any futuristic vehicle.

But wait; there's more: With a subscription to XBOX Live, you can play "Halo 2" online with your pals. It's packed full of exhilarating shooting games that sometimes feel like free-for-alls, sometimes like team-based war maneuvering.

If you're a real addict, you can buy a "Halo 2" wireless controller or a green headset to talk trash to your enemies while gaming online.

OK, when's "Halo 3" coming out?

Post Florida Atlantic University Homecoming "Owl Prowl"

A tradition of service
FAUís homecoming offers fun for kids, help for community organizations

Published Tuesday, November 9, 2004
by Dale M. King

Homecoming has a special meaning at Florida Atlantic University.
Sure, kids are getting psyched up for Saturdayís game against New Mexico State at Lockhart Stadium.
But the week of homecoming activities - known as the "Owl Prowl" - will again help community organizations.
The events are particularly special this year because it is FAUís 40th anniversary.
"We have a tradition of doing community projects," said Michael Winkler, marketing director for the Owl Prowl.
The Heart Walk held last Saturday, for example, was a benefit for the American Heart Association. The Angel Giving Tree will aid the Salvation Army. And Owl Care is a benefit for organizations in the northern part of the county.
Homecoming officially kicked off Monday afternoon with a carnival for live-in students sponsored by the Resident Student Association.
With music throbbing and smoke billowing from a barbecue pit, students took park in games like the bounce house, bungee jumping, a horizontal bungee run, dunk tank and other activities.
"Students get a ticket for each game they participate in," said Mccaa Morrow, RSA vice-president. Once they got enough tickets, they could "buy" barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers and cans of soda.
There was also a lot of Red Bull drink since that company was one of the sponsors.
"Homecoming is a big deal," said Morrow. "The students show their support for the school and the team."
FAUís Fighting Owls are 5-2 as they prepare for Saturdayís game.
One of homecomingís special events is the presentation of the Talon Leadership Awards Wednesday night in the Lifelong Learning Center.
First given out in 1997, and sponsored jointly by the FAU National Alumni Association and FAU Student Government, the awards honor outstanding service to the school and its students.
Christopher N. Pollock, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, will receive the Alumni Talon Award.
State Senators Ron Klein and Ken Pruitt will receive Presidentís Talon Awards for their service to FAU as community leaders.
Faculty and student Talon Award recipients will be named Wednesday.
The Owl Prowl also includes a comedy show. This yearís lineup includes former MTV vee-jay Bill Bellamy, comedian Orlando Jones of NBCís hit prime-time cartoon "Father of the Pride," Corey Holcomb of Comedy Centralís "Last Comic Standing" and local favorite Roz G. It will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the FAU Auditorium. The show is open to the public.
Homecoming officially ends with a formal dance called "A Night to Treasure" Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Grand Palm Room.
